The club was founded in 2009 by a group of friends who wanted to play football together. They started out in the Basildon Sunday League and quickly progressed through the divisions. In 2015, they joined the Mid-Essex Football League and have been playing there ever since.

South Cestos finished the 2021-22 season in 10th place in Division Five. They won 12 games, drew 5, and lost 13. Their top scorer was James Perry, who scored 15 goals.
