The Herefordshire Junior Football League (HJFL) provides organised grassroots football for young players through a network of community clubs in Herefordshire and neighbouring counties. The league runs both league and cup competition, with its member clubs ranging from larger community clubs to smaller grassroots teams.
The league's roots reach back to 1978, when the Herefordshire Junior Friendly League was formed to provide organised football for 12-year-olds leaving the Cub Scout League. It later adopted the Herefordshire Junior Football League name. That history remains an important part of the competition's identity, alongside its wider youth provision today.
HJFL's “Only Positive” campaign promotes Respect at matches for players, coaches, officials and spectators. The league has also taken part in the FA's Greater Game initiative, which supports families and coaches in using football to promote young people's health and wellbeing.
The league publishes a list of participating clubs, which is a useful starting point for families looking for a local youth team. Availability varies by club and age group, so prospective players should contact clubs directly about current places and arrangements.
Visit the Herefordshire Junior Football League website for club information and league news. Current fixtures, results and tables are available through FA Full-Time. TeamStats is an independent football directory. It is not the league or The Football Association.
