After a good second half performance last week the Don was hoping to take this forward into today’s game. Starting with there trail 3-5-2 formation the first ten minuets looked promising. The Don was playing the ball around looking the better team. But on there first attack Dalton Progressive scored!! It was a throwing down the Dons left, the long throw was allowed to bounce as the ball popped up there forward managed to beat Paul Bush in the air and flick the ball goal wards. What a shocking start! 1 – 0

This goal seamed to knock the confidence of the Don and the remainder of the half Dalton Progressive was the dominant side, the Don rarely causing them a problem. With the half coming to a close Dalton Progressive won a corner, the Don failed to clear and a shot rained in on goal only for Justin to stop the ball with his hand, the penalty was awarded and Justin took no further part in the game. The spot kick was slotted away with ease 2 – 0 the Don now faced a mountain of a challenge.

Half Time 2 – 0

The second half started pretty much the same as the first ended with Dalton Progressive in the ascendancy, but this time the Don held firm, the deeper into the half the Don started looking more threatening putting Dalton Progressive under pressure, it paid off when a deep corner by Terry was turned back in well by Chris Green for Carl Bennett to head home at the back post 2 – 1

This gave the Don renewed belief and started to look like a new team working well, but then they were hit with a dodgy decision to say the least, a corner was cleared by the Don but the ball was hit goal wards, it was handled on the line by there forward who was offside but neither decision was given, the ball dropped straight to there player two yards out who slotted home 3 – 1.

The game looked over but with 25 minuets left and the spirit the Don has it was far from over, the Don pilled pressure on Dalton Progressive, they were struggling to cope with the Don and with around 15 minuets left the Don pulled one back, a free kick was awarded on the left, Carl Bennett floated a ball in to the area, a mazy run from Stephen Arrowsmith who lost his defender was able to volley home from 8 yards out 3 – 2 Game on.

For the last ten minuets the Don put Dalton Progressive under countless pressure with Matt Phillips having several shots, they really deserved to pull one back, it looked as though that was going to happen when in the last 3 minuets Paul Bush had a thunderbolt of a volley from 30 yards out but the keeper turned over superbly!! The full time whistle went to the relief of Dalton Progressive, if the Don can start like they have finished the last two games and not give away silly goals then the first win of the season won’t be too long away.
