BEAUTY Vs The Beast

This game pitted two very different styles of play against each other. 1 team prefering to lump the ball around the pitch in the air, a kick and run style that i hate and never want my boys to use. The other team playing some quality football keeping the ball grounded and linking pass after pass and moving on for the next one.

1st Half: For once we started well and got into out flow fast, passing the ball around the pitch and making Millers work hard to get it back. We had quite a few chances in this half and really should have put 1 away before they took the lead from a long ball lumped up the pitch into the box, their number 10 lost his man marker and directed a loverly header past stand in keeper Mr Whittlock. After that we incresed the tempo another level and should have scored at least 3, Mr Butler blazing over the bar from a distance my granny could have scored springs to mind lol. We finaly leveled just B4 the break with some good link up play on the right, a flick on from Dean and Mr Doyle was on hand to smash home his 1st of the game 1-1.

Half Time: And spirits were high as every1 knew we had them under the cosh and if anything the break helped them recover. The lads were reminded to keep the ball on the ground, a place Millers clearly did not enjoy playing their football.

2nd Half: We again started the brigher and had a few chances b4 totaly againest the run of play and what i belive was an offside position they made it 2-1, the ball was again hoofed over the top and to the Millers players credit he finished nicely with a neat little lob over Mr Whittlock. Then as we pushed a foward in search of the equlizer we were hit on the break, some right dodge defending and being outnumbered dident help things, 1-3 to Millers. After that i think they only had 1 more chance to score as we pounded their goal with wave after wave of attack. Mr Ackland finaly made it 2-3 after some class link up play and a cool finish. After that i think everybody could feel what was going to happen as we got closer and closer to scoring, then with not long left on the clock Noel & Luke played a neat little 1-2 on the edge of the box and just as Luke was about to pull the trigger he got hacked down, Penalty!!! Luke himself stepped up to take the kick and finish with power and presision to the keepers right hand side, but the Ref wasent happy with the amount of players already inside the box when the ball was struck so he made Luke re-take it, this time the power and placment were equally as good as he smashed the ball into the roof of the net. 3-3.

That is the way it finished and even though i was a little disapointed not to have won the match i was more then happy with the overall perfoarmance and character showen by every player to come back after being behind twice. This was a game we totally domanated with double the FK,Corner and shot count and easily 60% - 40% possesion BUT we got hit on the break by a bunch of long ball merchents and i hope all my players learnt a few things, as o know i have.

Well done lads, Kidbrooke next!!!!!
