Away league match played on 13 February 2011.
Kicked off at 10:00 AM

Pitch too small, shocking surface. I can see why teams struggle to get results at Barnburgh. The FA are suposed to be standardising the set ups in junior football. This is set up is a good example why that is important. It could easily have been a lottery today. But we showed a touch of class at times and won pretty comfortably in the end. Full credit to the whole squad yet again.

We started really well and had about three chances to score in the first few minutes. By hook or crook or knee, backside, post the lot Barnburgh managed to keep us out. Maddo eventually broke the deadlock, he went on a maizey run, hand a shot blocked, but persevered to eventually bundle it over the line. It was very pleasing from the management point of view that a little plan came off and this led to the second goal and contributed to the others. Wardy was instructed to 'occupy' the keeper. Not foul, push or pull just stand in front. The keeper didn't know how to cope. On 18 mins a good deep corner from Jonesy was met by a towering header from Jimmy 'the giraffe' which flew into the net. 0-2.

Barnburgh did respond and after a bit of a mix up were four of our defenders stood looking at each other, they managed to force the ball home 22mins 1-2. Not over happy with the defending and particularly first half, we were caught a number of times. Indecision is a bad trait when defending. We responded very quickly 2 mins later Jmmy 'the giraffe' rose again and planted the ball wide of a keeper to busy dealing with Wardy. 1-3. Just before half time Jimmy got his hat tricj. This time he cam in at the back stick to tap in from yet another corner. Can you believe Carcroft actually caused mayhem from attacking corners. Its usually the other way and our opposition have more success against us. 30 mins 1-4.. The half wasn't done and just before the break Barnbirgh got a very fortunate penalty. A innocuous challenge from Jimmy was penalised. No chance!!! Anyway Belly did the business, saving not just the initial PENO but the rebound when all our numpties were gawping and allowed Barnburgh to have an uncontested shot which Donga turned around the post. Half Time 1-4

HALF TIME 1- 4

Made a couple of changes at half time, Troz on for Simon and Caddy on for Kezza.

It took about five minutes for our top scorer to get on the sheet, a good exchange of passes allowed him to shoot into the net. Caddy 42 mins. 1-5. Game was pretty much comfortable other than the fact Barnburgh are very much a counter attacking team and tend to leave men up, so concentration was the key point for our defenders today.

We do encourage the keeper to roll out to our ful backs and start us off, when this goes wrong and we concede, its not a time to slag them off. It did happen around 50 mins, Belly rolled out to Troz who got his feet in a muddle. The Barnburgh forward had a lot to do, but launched a 25 yarder over Belly to make it 2-5. Thats life!

We weren't finished, Dingle came on to bolster the midfield and Danno to strtch the game on the left. We managed to scoe another two goals. On 55 mins some lovely quick passing and moving saw Maddo deliver to Ferg who dispatched nicely. Excellent good to watch a pleasure. 2-6. Five mins later Maddo got a second goal latching onto a through ball, round the keeper and rolling home. Game well and truly over. 2-7.

FULL TIME Barnburgh & Harlington 2- 7 CARCROFT VILLAGE JFC

CONCLUSION - Another good win on a pitch that was against us. Very pleased with the fact we were excellent from the set plays corners etc. Especially Jimmy, we have the guys with long throws and the tall lads like Jim & Jake to get in among it. We also have two or three lads who can strike a dead ball better than anyone in the league. We ought to score more from corners and free kicks.

In open play it was very difficult to construct anything decent because the pitch isn't wide enough or long enough. it didn't suit our ball players.

Defensively we have to work on our concentration, this is very important when you play for a team like ours. We tend to dominate possession so our defenders switch off. Second half Catty and Jimmy then Jake were all guilty of this. Put it in the note book boys and get it right. if we switch off against better opposition we will end up dropping points.

All in all another win seven more and we will br home and hosed!

DON'T FORGET SATURDAY NIGHT. WE ALL HAVE TO PLAY OUR PART!!
