Home league match played on 20 February 2011.
Kicked off at 12:00 AM

The pitch was like a treacle pudding and made reasonable football impossible. But we felt it was important to play and not get a fixture backlog.

We had two away Danno and Kezza, we made two changes Troz came in for Simon and Dingle started for Wardy.

Got off to a great start and could of and probably should of scored in the first attack and the 2nd and 3rd. We got our reward for the early pressure when Jimmy 'the giraffe' jumped like a salmon to plant his header powerfully passed the keeper. 1-0 3 minutes gone.

We continued to dominate and cause loads of problems for Rossington and it was no surprise when we added the 2nd. One would have to go far to see a better goal. A good bit of midfield interplay got Ferg away on mid pitch. He lifted his head and saw Maddo on the defenders shoulder. Ferg planted a precison cross over the defender for Maddo to sprint onto and with a diving header (swan neck) he finished superbly. 12 mins gone 2-0.

Thought the game got a bit scrappy on 20 mins, we seemed to lose concentration and Rossington showed they weren't going to lay down and die. John had a tough task as ref controlling fractious teenage boys with the testosterone flying about.

We went 3-0 up on 25 mins when troz cut in from the left hand side and swung a tesing cross into the area. Caddy headed well, it hit the post and went in off the keeper body.

HALF TIME 3-0

We started the 2nd half in a 4-4-1 formation with Wardy up front on his own. Not an easy task. The 2nd half was about the best our back four have played as a unit for at least 2 years. All four were terrific, Simon, Jimmy, Catty and Troz take a bow!

They weren't the only ones, Belly pulled of two or three good saves and  organised well. The midfield two Ding and Maddo were tireless and with Wardy doing well as the lone soldier and the wide men contributing well the second half was very good. In fact we looked like we had 11 players on and looked most likely to score.

Wardy hit the bar from a Jake Canning cross. We also had other scoring opportunities and ran out very convincing winners. With 10 men for 3/4 of the game i'd take 3-0 any day of the week.

FULL TIME 3-0

Conclusion - two fantastic goals, both headers. Hard work and SOLIDARITY. SOLIDARITY is when you all stick together through thick or thin. We needed to show good spirit and discipline to get through a game we could have lost. Easily!

If Rosso had got a goal when we were having the dodgy spell just before half time we could have had real problems. As it was we got through it with flying colours and from the midway point of the 2nd half i was always confident we would see it through.

Finally, although there were loads of magnificent performances, the back four have to take the praise this week. Absoloutely different gravy. Strong, composed, combatative and up for it! They covered each other well and always managed to get a foot in were required. Great stuff!!
