Home cup match played on 24 January 2010.
Kicked off at 11:30 AM

Welcome back.....our first game for 5 weeks......on a pitch that resembled a pudding!

As expected we were a bit rusty to start with, and in the 1st ten minutes we could be described as shaky. Especially through the centre of defence. Belly was struggling to make the game with a 'fat toe' (hit on his toe whilst cricket training Friday night). We were hoping Big Jim might cover and give Belly a day off, unfortunately that didn't happen and Jimmy put up one of his lesser performances. Thats the excuses sorted.

Anyway we were all over the place and one could be excused for thinking oh here we go! But as we always do we scored from just about our first attack. A ball into the box from Dingle wasn't dealt with and Chris Caddy bundled the ball home 1-0. Chris could well have scored a few more in the next 10 to 15 mins. He was causing Sprotborough all kinds of problems.

It wasn't too long before Wardy came alive and netted our 2nd, by this time we were well on top. Sprotborough are one of those sides who go very negative against us 5 in midfield one up front. This used to cause us problems, not anymore! Saying that Sprotborough had a goalruled out for offside, they could argue that was A turning point because Caddy smashed in a left foot volley to make it 3-0.

Half time 3-0

We decided not to make any changes at half time. I suppose that turned into a good decision, another long thump from Dingle caught the back four square and Wardy 'raced' onto it and finished very well 4-0....

This turned out to be his last touch for now because we thought it a good time to play the boys...on came Danno, Catty and Numpt for Wardy,Rodders and Belly who had done well to last as long as he did.

Dingle dropped into the back four to cover for Belly. It wasn't long before Bri was chewing the old ears off when Jim n Ding got caught square and Sproborough got one back. Bri is right and wrong, right that taking some of our key players off does weaken us sometimes, wrong because these guys are going to play a big part in us doing the treble. To be fair they all did really well and the team relaxed knocked the ball around created loads of chances. It was really enjoyable to watch.

Catty notched after 25 tries to get a shot in, the famous toe came out and he picked his spot. Calum scored and missed a penalty! Firstly he scored, had to re take, and missed.

Finally Chris Caddy capped a good display by slotting the 6th goal and getting his hat trick.

Excellent final score Carcroft Village 6 - Sprotborough 1

In Conclusion

Praise - Troy Butler...very good display today Troy

Excellent - Chris Caddy...superb work rate desire and will to get us through to the semi final of the cup. Chris has suffered a few disappointments in this competition at our hands last season. He made sure this year he was going to be on the winning side!!!!

Fitness - 2nd half there was only one team in the game, we were still working as hard at the end we don't stop. Why? ...Because we are fit. Training Wednesday boys. It pays dividends on Sundays, especially when the ground is so soft.

WELL DONE SEMI FINALS here we come
