WARMSWORTH LIONS 4 - CARCROFT VILLAGE  5

Despite the conditions this was a very entertaining game, there were many thrills and spills followed by ups and downs. Fortunately for us we had our GAME head on and did what we have done many times in the last three seasons. DONE THE JOB!!!

Very wet, the pitch was cutting up by the minute. Football wasn't great but the endeavour from both sides was top class. It did spill over a few times and a couple of Warmsworth lads did lose their cool but by enlarge it was a good spirited competetive game.

We went one down after having the best of the opening exchanges, some how the Warmsworth winger managed the cross and the forward squeezed it it from a tight angle. We felt a bit bad done by really. Done nowt wrong but one down.

Then it kicked off. The centre half thought he'd take Maddo on infront of his own goal, bad idea. Maddo robbed him and was then pulled down PENO!!!  Maddo scored casually. Not long after we went in front again Maddo got himself between the defenders and keeper. Bit of a scramble and he poked the ball home for 1- 2 to Carcroft. We were the better side at this point. What a nightmare we conceded an equaliser from our goal kick, Matty's clearance fell short Simon tried to stab it (or summat) it actually fell to there player who hit a powerful cross shot past Matty 2 -2 (nightmare).

We didn't let our heads drop and called on our vast experience in these situations. After a shot from Maddo was parried Troz bundled the rebound over for 2 -3. Not long after Maddo went on a slalom like run and finished cooly to give us a 2 -4 lead at half time..

HALF TIME  WARMSWORTH 2 - CARCROFT VILLAGE 4

We knew they would come at us 2nd half. But we need to stop conceding sloppy goals (summat we will work on the next few weeks). Warmsworth put pressure on and after conceding pointless corners and throw ins around our box we conceded only a few minutes into the 2nd half.  3 - 4 GAME ON !!!

Yet again we did get our composure back, but we started to look ragged in midfield. Troy having his 1st full game in centre midfield started to tire and lose a bit on concentration. We were being pinned back a bit. Have a guess what happened next. We conceded a needless corner which resulted in a almighty scramble. The ball was poked home and we managed put the pressure back on us. 4-4.

While we have Maddo in such good form it will always give us a chance. He picked the ball up waltzed by a few tackles kept his composure and slotted the ball home. Get in my son!!! 4 - 5. There was about 15 mins left.

We had a dilemma at this point, do we go for another or try and control the game. We decided on the latter. Maddo went back into mdifield with Dingle and Caddy went up front. To be fair we had a couple of scares but i thought we pretty much controlled the game. Maddo and Ding LOCKED it in and well supported by Calum Danno and Catty we looked comfy. A very professional display in which we showed character, discipline and desire.

FINAL SCORE  WARMSWAORTH LIONS 4  CARCROFT VILLAGE 5

From our point of view this could have kick started our season, I think we can play better. There were a few areas that were disappointing but as a team we were superb today all of you take a bow!!!

Individually, it would be a travesty if MADDO didn't get a special mention. A great performance from a top player.

As a team, i think this is the best squad of players we have ever had. It makes life much easier when there's competition for places and when we can bring good players on to freshen things up. That could be the difference between us and our rivals come the end of the season. Remember we are a squad and be ready to stand up and be counted when called upon. I was impressed by the attitude of our subs today. Very supportive voaclly to their team mates and when called upon did their bit. Well done lads!!!
