ROSSINGTON JUNOIRS 1 CARCROFT VILLAGE BOYS 3

Full credit to Carcroft Village Boys u14's for reaching their third consecutive cup final. A superb professional performance which showed when we don't play so well we can still do the correct things and get the right result.

We made a couple of changes from last weeks team, importantly Caddy was back from holiday. Brett Catt was rewarded for a good game last week and kept the right back spot. Unlucky Dan had to sit this one out.

What a whirlwind start, we asked for a quick start to play on the nerves of the Rossington team(our 3rd semi, there first). Chris Caddy burst through onto a Maddo through ball and fired home after 2 minutes. A great start maybe it did go against us a little,we thought it would be a easy game after that! We created a number of chances, really good ones as well. I suppose you could even call em SITTERS. Ubfortunately Chris Caddy had and missed the most of them but he wasn't the only culprit. The thing is to keep being confident and get into the position to have a crack on goal.We really needed to kill the game off and at one nil we were always a little vulnerable. At this point I should mention our main creater Cal was under the weather with flu and a chest infection and he put in a lack lustre performance. A shame for Cal because he's been our most creative player this year. (look at the stats) Eventually we replaced him at half time with Simon.

Jimmy Davis got a tap in to ease our worries and send us to half time 2 - 0. Caddy did well to retrieve a parry from the keeper. He turned it back into the box and Jimmy was there to tap home.

HALF TIME ROSSINGTON JUNIORS 1 - CARCROFT VILLAGE BOYS 2

At half time we tried to settle the boys down. We weren't playing well and a few players were getting disappointed with how things were going. The ball was hard and the pitch very uneven and bouncy and there was also a strong breeze, not ideal.

We started the second half positively and created a number of chances, yet again we struggled to put them away.

As we always preach, it only takes a mistake and the pressure is back on. A long punted free kick which should have landed in Daves arms on the edge of the six yard line ended up in the net when Belly glanced it. Dave shouts Belly leaves - no problem!! Rosso 1 Carcroft 2.

The Rosso crowd started backing there boys and they did get a lift from the goal. But like i said earlier, we are professional if nothing else. We got the ball into Rossos half and kept them well away from our goal area.

CADDY eventually netted his 2nd, emphatically smashing the ball across the keeper into the top corner. A good finish, you could say 'it was about time' but I'd say well done!!

We closed out the game well, Dave had to make a good punch and Jimmy made a good clearing header but we looked the most likely to add to the score. The referee put Rosso out of their misery and we had a comfortable victory.

ROSSINGTON JUNIORS 1 - CARCROFT VILLAGE BOYS 3

In conclusion - our finishing today was the difference between what looked a tight 3 -1 victory and an absolute thrashing. Had we taken 50% of our chances we would have scored double figures.

Praise must go to Caddy for his two goals and for Brett Catt, Troz and his side kick Rodders. Superb game boys when the majority of the team were a bit off colour.

Winning the semi final is more important than the performance so praise to you ALL for doing the right things, keeping it tight and closing the game out!!!!!!!

FINAL IS 18th April v DONCASTER HALLCROSS - there's never much love lost between us and them so get ready for a battle.
