Home league match played on 22 September 2013.
Kicked off at 10:30 AM

The Harriers continued their decent start to the season with another home win. The score suggests this was a comfortable win but it was far from it!!

We started the game in the best possible fashion by scoring in the opening seconds! Joe picked up the ball some way outside of the box, saw the keeper was out of position, and launched a shot which ended up in the far corner of the net! 1-0.

Sometimes scoring this early can make you withdraw slightly but we done exactly what we should have and continued in the same manner, we looked like we wanted it more than Milford in the opening exchanges and it wasn’t long before we extended our lead. A free kick from Ivan wasn’t dealt with by the keeper and Chris W was first to react to bundle the ball into the net. 2-0.

Milford looked rattled and it wasn’t long before we added a third. Mumford went on one of his typical weaving runs and finished well past the keeper into the far corner. 3-0 up within the first half and hour and fully deserved.

Milford finally decided to start playing for the rest of the half and did give us a few scares at times but we managed to keep a clean sheet going into the break. 3-0 HT.

The second half was quite a mixed bag, to say the least! We spoke about putting the result beyond any doubt and we should have, this time, through Nick. A cross from the right was deflected extremely nicely into Nick’s path and it seemed certain he was going to score, but unfortunately, he got it wrong and sliced his effort harmlessly out for a goal kick.

This signaled the Milford come back. We conceded a rather cheap free kick just outside the area which was then dispatched extremely well by a green shirt. 3-1.

Milford clearly had a game plan for the second half and that was to dump as many crosses, corners, throw ins, into our area and hope for the best. After a few near misses, they finally got their reward. A throw in was launched into the area and after a bit of ‘pinball’ in the box, the ball fell to Luke who could only fumble and a Milford player was on hand to finish into the unguarded net. 3-2.

We did look a bit rattled after this goal went in and Milford certainly had the wind in their sails. Another throw in was taken from the right hand side which we couldn’t clear and eventually the ball rebounded off the cross bar. We managed to clear our lines after this and thankfully, regained our composure.

We again started to play the better football and probably should have scored before we scored our crucial 4th goal. Nick, Joe and Adrian all had a chance to shoot but neither could capitalize on the chance. The 4th goal came from another very well worked free kick. Ivan put an inch perfect cross into the box which Chris W headed towards goal which was then saved brilliantly by the Milford keeper but he could only parry to Adrian who finished brilliantly from a tight angle. 4-2.

This goal seem to signal the end of the Milford come back and it wasn’t long before we extended our lead. Joe picked up the ball in the middle of the park and slid a perfectly weighted through ball to Nick who buried the chance with his left foot for his first goal of the season. 5-2.

The 6th and final goal was scored by Joe. Not entirely sure who assisted this one but I remember the finish which was cool as you like. 6-2, and job well done!

I have to give you boys credit as you could have easily crumbled at 6-2 but you fought back and were good value for the win. Great team spirit!

Lets continue this form into our next game!
