Home friendly match played on 12 August 2012.
Kicked off at 10:30 AM

Brilliant display of attacking football today lads. Everything was there. Pace, aggression, power, work rate. We made Pyrford look mediocre at best for the majority of the game which isn’t bad considering we only had 11 men to their squad of 15 or 16!!!

We started in the best way possible and immediately has Pyrford on the back foot by getting the ball wide to Mumford and Ed as often as possible. We dominated the middle of the park, kept the ball well and it was pretty obvious who was looking the most likely to score although we were fortunate not to go behind after a mistake at the back let in the Pyrford striker who could only blast wide.

This was about as good as it got for Pyrford in the first half as we continued to dominate and it wasn’t long before we were ahead after good work from Steve Bruce set up Eddy Downs to finish from close range. Steve then turned goal scorer shortly afterwards after the keeper could only parry his powerful shot into his own net. The third and final goal of the first half was again scored by Eddy from short range after good work again from Steve.

We started the second half in decent fashion and continued to create openings. Steve probably should have bagged his second and the teams fourth but could only head wide from a matter of yards out after a good team move. The fourth and final goal was scored by Eddy who wrapped up his hat-trick with a excellent team goal to seal an impressive win. We did get a tad sloppy towards the end but it was understandable considering what a hot morning it was!!

I must say that we played some excellent football at times which was joy to watch from any perspective. We seem to be gelling extremely well and you can tell that teams wont like paying us as we have bags of pace and skill in all areas of the pitch. I would be lying if I said I wasn’t excited about the new season based on our last two performances but like I said before, we need to take it game by game and stay focused. These kind of performances won’t count for anything if we don’t take this kind of form into the new season.

Unfortunately we are short on numbers this week so I have had to cancel our friendly against Bell On The Green on Sunday. JB week Sunday and a chance to win back that trophy!!
