Away league match played on 11 April 2013.
Kicked off at 9:30 AM

Having been promoted after a third place finish, The Boners started the season with the ambition of being promoted again. Many thought it couldn’t be done so who would have thought they would have a chance of securing the title with 2 games to play?

It was FCBBH vs FC Ghurkhas for the title clincher and the Boners started firm favourites for the match up.  Josh “Sylvester” Sloane and Dave Waterworth took a well-earned rest and warmed the bench following their hard graft throughout the season.

The Boners dominated the possession for long periods but couldn’t find the breakthrough, the Ghurkhas were playing very well defensively and there were very little gaps for the Boners to exploit.

The gaffer used his tactical knowledge and managerial prowess to make the necessary changes as Darbinho and Santi came off for Dave and Sloane Respectively. In a must win game, taking the two top scorers off could have been seen as a brave move from the gaffer. However, the changes paid dividends as shortly after Ryan “Pete” Bogdan found Kev with a long ball who finished to put the Boners 1 up.

The Boners rarely looked in trouble at the back with Ben “Darnell” Abbott and Simon “The Bear” Peggs having a solid game and forcing the Ghurkhas to take wild long shots which rarely finished near the goal let along trouble Pete between the sticks.

Following another dominant period of possession Sylvester went on a mazy, marauding run forward and ended up one on one with the keeper. However, in true “Gay Fifa” fashion, Sloane very unselfishly passed it across the box to Darbinho who was left with the easy job of tapping the ball into the back of the net.. AN AMAZING GOAL.

The Ghurkhas seemed to become frustrated at the thought of facing another defeat; this was made worse by some good, legitimate tackles from Darbinho. One in particular angering the ugly defender who went all rapey eyed on the striker… Turned on by the thought, Darbinho suggested they have a photo together, however the rapey eyed defender refused with “Fcuk Off”. Well at least that’s what we think he said..

With the Boners 2-0 up and rarely looking like conceding, they could feel their second hand being placed on the title. The Boners rarely settle for a lead and always want more goals and the third came from a corner. Darbinho pinged in a bullet after spotting Kev making a run into the box through the static Ghurkha players. The ball bounced off Kev and ended up in the back of the net. 3-0 to The Boners.

The Boners wanted to put more goals away in the last 3-4 minutes, however, the lights unexpectedly went out early. This also signified the lights going out on Old Skool’s chances of winning back to back titles. FCBBH had done the unexpected, they had won the league and were soon to be crowned CHAMPIONS!!!

The Boners faced Los Pollos on the last day of the season, although not needing a win, they were demanding one as redemption for the 3 losses on their 3 previous encounters. Should The Boners win, they may also halt the Chicken Brothers chances of promotion into The Championship.

Every single player should be commended for their efforts this season and their efforts in becoming champions of Division 1. Having said that, with all the voting done, the Boners can look forward to their end of season awards night on the 26th and the chance to see who will be crowned as FCBBH’s Most Improved, Players Player, Managers Player, Dick of The Season and Golden Boot.

P.s Don’t forget to do your hair for the photo on Thursday. CHAMPIONAY CHAMPIONAY OH LAY OH LAY OH LAY!!
