Away league match played on 25 September 2011.
Kicked off at 10:30 AM

Todays league game was between two very attacking young teams as the Gremlins played as hosts to The Chequers FC at the Reck, Hall lane Bridge Road, Woolmer Green.

Dan Humphry brought a very enthusiastic team to the Reck today in the Gremlins third league game against The Chequers FC.

The team was decided and a 4-4-2 formation was chosen to enter the pitch.

The game started off well with a few battling tackles in the middle where a great pass reached Darren Rebeiro who on the ball on the right hand side, sprinted down the line, passed it across the box for Mark Humphry to connect with the ball on the other end where the ball was placed high up into the top right hand sode corner of the goal.

1-0 (10)

The game continued and the Gremlins were playing some pretty good lookimg football, with O'Neill hitting the post from the edge of the box on a volley passed from a well kept in ball from Rebeiro.

A few more attacks by the Chequers saw the ball given away for the striker to unleash a shot at Parkes, but nothing he could do to stop it.

1-1 (15)

The game was end to end and after a further 5 minutes the Chequers took the lead after the Gremlins heads dropped after a well worked team move through the defence.

1-2  (20)

The Gremlins keeper Jamie Parkes pulled off some great saves all day, which if not for him would have resulted in the Gremlins needing more goals.

The Gremlins won a corner which was taken by Darren Rebeiro when the keeper for the Chequers dropped the ball and a hand ball was given as a Chequer player tried to keep the ball out of the net with both hands.

Andrew Williams Stepped up for the draw and went the right way to equalise.

2-2 (26)

Parkes made some terrific saves, from more well worked team moves.

Enright played well and was consistent throughout the game.

Just before the break Matt humphry made some brilliant tackles and stopped many chances, not before yet again a corner from Rebeiro which O' Neill made connection with for debate whether it crossed the line, only for Martin Lloyd to smash it into the net and make sure the Gremlins took the lead.

3-2 (42)

Half time

Goffs Gremlins FC 3-2 The Chequers FC

Coming out from the break, Humphry made a change with Dan Surridge coming on for Blake Nalder who played his part and done really well in the middle.

The game was more exciting in the second half with many more attempts at goal, however the Gremlins had scored as many as they were going to for today.

There was contraversy over Rebeiro's runs throughout the game when too many decisions were against the visitors. The referee had a word but thats all that could be said.

A double change was made with Pat Hunt taking a seat for Chris Hiddlestone who added strength in the back line, and also Kieron Cummines coming on for Greg Bailey.

The last chance of the game come from Rebeiro who looked up 30 yards out to see the goalkeeper off his line and chip him, it hit the inside of the crossbar and back in play.

The game was finally settled when a through ball allowed the Chequers striker in on goal, which he hit first time and it flew past the goalkpeer and into the net.

3-3 (70)

Final score

Goffs Gremlins 3-3 The Chequers FC

A great game which both teams were very much in the race for the title for.

A draw seperated the teams, but as you can imagine the teams are itching to be back on the pitch for the rematch back at Valley View.

Keep it up Gremlins!
