Away league match played on 25 February 2012.
Kicked off at 12:00 PM

Jets were missing Jsoh away with Ashington, but were helped kindly with the return of Dom and Luke to the side.  With a number of the boys playing their second game of the day, it was a case of making lots of substitutions through out the game to try and reserve energy. Doing this we did lose some fluency, but the fighting spirit shown by the boys could not be questioned.

Going into the game the two teams were locked on 28 points in joint fourth place, so it was always going to be a tight game for the second week in a row against a KYPC side. Jets started strongly with Ben just heading over from a well hit corner. Jets went close a couple more times before Storm came back into the game and were unlucky not to take the lead. Only some great work from Kieran in goal and the woodwork kept Storm out. At the other end Ben was causing them lots of problems, while the Storm keeper pulled of a couple of stunning saves. A good even end to end game looked like it would end up scoreless at the break, but Joe B made a good run down the right put a lovely cross ball through to hot shot Ethan who controlled expertly and finsiehd really well. Great link up play boys, 1-0 to Jets at the break, lots of good work from Kyle, Dylan and Kieran at the back had kept the strong Storm strikers out.

Second half again was pretty much the same as first both teams attacking well and going close on lots of occasions, the Jets got the vital second goal at the start of the hald, Dylan putting in a a well hit fizzing low corner, and Dom just playing his second game for the Jets getting a nice flick on to give the Jets some breathing space. Looked to be quite comfortable until a penalty award was given to the Storm, a well hit penalty was saved by Kieran but the ref thought the ball had crossed the line. Certainlty a need for video evidence on that one, looked to us coaches that only half the ball had corssed but it was a very tight call for the ref to give.

To give some more help to Kyle, Gairsy moved to the back, and this seemed to help calm the nerves as Kieran didnt have a great deal to do to the end of the game, while at the other end Dylan, Dom and Ben all went close. It was with relief that the final whistle went, with other results going in favour of the Jets, a final game win next week could see the boys finish third in the qualifying league. Considering the boys don't train together and players coming in and out of the side this is a great effort, so well done to all who have played for the jets this season. Lets try and finish the first part of the season off well next week, when we face the much improved New Fordley.

For man of the match, Ethan Bell kept us his impressive scoring record with another good finish, (Leading the way for top scorer award), Kieran made some great blocks and distribution was excellent,  Kyle strong at the back, and Dylan very goond once again, but they were just pipped to the award by Ben who was a constant threat to the Storm going forward. Well done to all the boys!
