Away league match played on 13 October 2012.
Kicked off at 10:05 AM

After last weeks poor performance away to Tynemouth Reds, we were supposed to be the hosts to Prudhoe Reds, but heavy rain on Thursday left Bomarsund and the middle school fields under water, kindly Prudhoe offered to host the game.  With key players back including skipper Olly, we hit the ground running, scoring two goals in the first five minutes.

It was conststant pressure from Guide Post, as we created corner after corner, two of which we converted, first off a scramble and Joe Briddon put away confidently, second one was drilled in again nicely from Joseph and Kieran flicked on I think with his head to the back post where Luke hit it sweetly with his left foot.

We continued to dominate but could not get past the impressive keeper, Ryan unlucky not to score, while Joseph, Olly, Luke and Joe B all forced saves from the keeper. The game started to become a little scrappy as we could not get a third goal, Prudhoe finally starting to put some pressure on, but Kieran and Mason were impressive at the back, so giving Cam a very quiet half.  Third goal was nice one touch passing, Luke putting Joe B away on the right who drilled it low into the far corner. Nice quick football which we had lacked for long spells. So 2-0 up at the break.

Continued to have the better of the game in the second half and we scored three further goals, firstly Lukes powerfully hit shot could only be parried by the keeper, and Joe B showing his attacking skills had followed up nicely to put the ball away for his third of the game.  Fifth goal and the ball broke to just outside the area, and Josephs reward for having a lot of shots paid off, a nicely looped effort went in just below the bar giving keeper little chance.  Last goal was again from a corner, Joseph swung hit in well for Joe B to powerfully head home from close range!!  If a number can learn to head that way we should have plenty of joy from corners this season.  The reds who showed great fighting spirit throughout got a deserved goal, the ball was played out nicely on the left hand side, and the striker hit a great shot right accross the goal giving Cam no chance.

At times we played some very good attacking football, while for spells got rather bogged down on the small pitch. The reds keep certainly kept the score down with some great saves. With regards to man of the match, Masons calming influence at the back was welcome, and Kieran also read the game nicely, in the middle of the park Olly and Joseph did a lot of good work, while Josephs corners caused the reds problems all the way through the game. Away decision went to Luke who led the line well, creating a couple of goals and getting one himself, while for the home decision it was hard to look past four goal man Joe B, pwerfull headed finish and a couple of other very clinical strikes impressed.  Well done Luke & Joe B on your awards, and well doen to the team on getting back to winning ways.

Next week we will be back at Prudhoe to face the stronger Rockets side, which promises to be a harder game, and we will need to be on top of our game.
