An important game fell at home vs. Langleybury on Remembrance weekend.

The Shooters Team formation was changed this week to 4 4 2 with a few plyers being played out of position to try and get a few more goals.

We set up and started well – the formation helped us put pressure on from the start. Some great work from bavo down the left opened them up and created a couple of chances for Matt and Warren which were gloriously missed.

After 15 mins Langleybury created their first chance a missed headed at the back from Shooters allowed a chance to hit the post and be poked home from close range 1 0 Langleybury.

We kept going in true style – one thing over the last 3 weeks that I have been pleased about is the commitment and team spirit shown for the whole 90 mins.

We battered them for the next 5 mins and our pressure finally came good – a throw in from Nick on the left won at the front post by matt, dropped kindly to warren 16 yards out to mishit badly into the bottom corner 1 1 20 mins

Then came our mad 10 mins on 30 mins we decided to commit suicide, a good punch clear from Griff (WHO WAS BEING FOWLEDREF) was met 12 yards out and the header lobbed over Conway on the line (Yes Conway on the line) 2 1, on 36 mins we let them down the right hand side and a cross came in Griff was beaten to the front post and the ball nestled in the bottom corner 3 1 down at half Time

We stayed boyant and the half time oranges were lovely. Back out and ready to roll. For the next 45 mins im not sure what had happened, we created chance after chance with some great work from Sean and matt in the middle and lee an bavo on the wings.

Conway, duff and their full backs kept Griff out of the game.

Lee put one wide – matt had one cleared off the line, Nick has a chance saved.

Langleybury couldn’t cope and ultimately after having a player sent off (Ouch £35 quid Later) we got a freekick on the edge – Warren steped up and Bank bottom Corner 3 2.

With 3 mins injury time we pushed even harder and Noble and Rob were chucked on to get the equaliser we so deserved.

The final chance of the game fell to Hitch – Our glorious Left back….. a low right foot drive whistled an inch wide.

Close but no cigar. Another game we have lost by 1 goal. That’s now 6 in 7 loses…… it says to me we are so close to having a league winning team.

Work on defensive lapses and we will get there… the team sprit is there the confidence is there and ultimately we are there.

Next week welcomes back our captain and a few other absences’………….. at the time I write this report we have 16 players avail for next Sat vs Oxhey at Home, so time to prove yourselves and cement that place in the starting 11

Well done again and unlucky lads!!!!
