Home league match played on 23 October 2010.
Kicked off at 10:30 AM

After a very sluggish start with the battle being played out mostly in midfield Heyside finally got the ball moving and started to play the way they know. There wasn't much pressure at the back as Joe Jack and Jayden stopped everything in their tracks.

The first goal came when Harry T broke up play and chipped a lovely pass to Lewis, he ran down the wing and played it into Kyle's path, he then strode past the on rushing defender looked up and tapped it into the bottom right hand corner to give Heyside the lead. 1-0.

Jamie and Jake were making gutsy tackles and getting the blocks in when it mattered and the game started to get a bit rough as Denton had a few lads who were putting themselves about a bit.

Half Time - Heyside B 1 Denton Youth B 0.

It was to become a torrid ten minutes for Heyside as the referee made some awful decisions and left everybody on the side lines totally bemused with his actions.

Only a couple of minutes in and the equaliser came after a mix up in defence and this seemed to give Denton confidence. 1-1.

With no time to take a breather and it was another goal to Denton as the team had gone completely to sleep and were now being overrun. 1-2. A harsh penalty not long after and Heyside were now looking down a barrel of a gun could it get any worse ?. 1-3. Yes it could as a fourth ended up in the net and now the game looked a forgone conclusion. 1-4.

With ten minutes still to play and finally Heyside showed what they were made of, Alex H was making space so the midfield runners could now get the time they needed to pass the ball. Kyle was unlucky as was Lewis who whilst taking a shot was blatantly pushed in the back only to see the referee give a goal kick. Jake made a storming run down the left and just hit his shot wide. Another great run from Lewis as he cut inside to hit an unstoppable shot into the roof of the net and deservedly so. 2-4.

It was one way traffic for the final couple of minutes but Heyside coudln't claw their way back to get a deserved draw which was very harsh indeed.

Full Time - Heyside B 2 Denton Youth B 4.

Lessons have been learned today that we can't switch off just because we are winning. We were generally bullied off the ball today by a tough Denton team and the referee was appalling with some baffling decisions. For most of the game we were fine just a sloppy eight minutes which cost us. We tend to forget that this is a team that has only been together a few months and are playing against teams that have been together for years !!

Joe was great again and could do little about the four goals he really is improving, Jack and Jayden were fine but need to concentrate just a little bit better when we are under the cosh, Harry was steady again and people need to remember that he has only played a couple of games, Jake had his best game yet and I hope he can continue this for the rest of the season. Jamie and Alex are still the youngest on the team and have alot of improving to come so there is no worries there. Impressive again were Lewis and Kyle and it was really hard to chose the man of the match.

M.O.T.M. - Kyle Fitton - Great skill today and a nicely taken goal.
