Splendid display by MWFC after two weeks break from league duties, rampage on goals with 8 past the net. Best result thus far in X-League, recorded a clean sheet along the way as well.
Played an offensive formation of 3-5-2 for the first time this season, there is only one reason for doing so; get more goals. And indeed, just in 20mins of play, MWFC netted 4 goals past Fantasista's net. Wolves had that hunger and first half came to a close with the scoreline of 6-0.
First chance came by with Ryan battling out at the flanks and sent a beautiful cross into the box and Weihao had a free header on the ball but misses it completely, what a chance wasted. However, he opened the scoring spree once again on the same fixture by a brilliant assist from Chye, dead ball thru into 6yards and all he needed was to tap it in.
Minutes later, Hanxiang had a chance to blast the ball into the net with only a couple of feet away from goal, but he blew it over the crossbar. But moments later, he finally opened his scoring account from a deadly corner by Melvin and he headed into the net with much height, keeper had no chance at all!
That was when the goals started pouring in, receiving the ball from Ryan, Chye took a turn and his excellent footwork got him into space for a shot, great goal from some awesome skill there. Then came Sam, the fullbacks were totally running like headless chicken as he came down the flanks flying, as usual his swift stepovers were too much for the fullback to handle, sent a wicked shot and keeper sees it past the line.
Ryan was up scoring next as MWFC launched a quick counter attack which was proved too overwhelming for Fantasista's defence, a great ball from Chye and Ryan went on scoring his second in the X-league, a total striker indeed!
Sebas was literally a ball magnet for this match, at many of times opponents came running into him and poooof, change of possession! He also added an assist for Chye which he sent a tasty pass which cracked the defense up and Chye went on scoring his second in the game.
In the second half, Alex went on scoring the 7th goal in the game after receiving an excellent thru pass from Wenjie which led to a chance for him to lob the goalie, although hitting a defender along the process but still a great goal! Melvin then proceed to scored the last goal of the game from an assist by Ryan whom tops the assist chart for now in MWFC.
Though there wasn't any clear threats by the opponents, the defense department did their part in showing composure and stability in this fixture as well. Everyone was steady and calm, passing the ball around confidently and intercepting passes in between. Extra mention to Qiyi Wen whom had a brilliant performance in the second half and also cracked a spectacular volley outside the box which was saved by the keeper by mere luck, what a goal it would have been!
Edward Lim once again shown his prowess in front of goal, keeping a clean sheet and kept off a few incoming threats as well. Adding on, his distribution was almost perfect and each led to a attacking chance which resulted in some of the goals! Kudos to our goalie veteran!
Unfortunately, Chye and Mark were both injured in the process and might be out till further notice.
Overall, we held the ball well with almost 80% possession which rarely happens in other fixtures. The amount of passes stringed were worth mentioning and lets try to do it in our other games too. We also managed to keep them in their halves 80% of the time but keeping in mind that they were playing with 10men.
Lets try to hold on to this composure we had in this game, everyone was doing their job, playing well as a team. This was what we were lacking in previous games against teams like Avatar and Maccabees. With just final two fixtures (Acolytes & Maccaabees) left, lets do our best and finish the season on a high note!
