Away league match played on 17 January 2010.
Kicked off at 10:30 AM

In what was their first competitive game for six weeks Rosehill played in one of only three games on this Sunday.

With the lack of competitive games due to the weather and being unable to train for the same reason Rosehill once again started slowly with both teams having chances early on.

Rosehill soon got it together with Charlie scoring the opener following a team move with a clinical pass from Stonham.

Shoreham had a number of new players since their 10-1 defeat earlier in the season by Rosehill and had a number of chances to equalise in the next ten. The Rosehill defence was a little shaky at times due to a new back four and lack of match practice. They came close a number of times with Rosehill finding it hard to defend from corners.

Dan Kuxhaus made it two on 24 minutes with a shot just inside the box that hit the net just inside the post after a brave attempt to clear from the Shoreham defender and an assist by debutant Troy Martin. This was clearly Dan's best game in a Rosehill shirt and was only taken off at his request.

Shoreham had a lot of the early play and capitalised on 26 following a defensive error that left the Shoreham player unmarked to score from a looping header.

Charlie got his second following an assist from Newman on 30 minutes to go two in front again.

After the break Rosehill played some great football at times and made it 4 and Rosehill's own "Torres" secured his hat trick with an assist by Dan Kuxhaus which was the pass of the match and some clever work by Dan K and rounded off a great team move.

Stonham. Rosehill's very own "Rooney", got the goal of the game and a big fat 10 out of 10 for his goal on 59 minutes. Collecting the ball just inside the Shoreham half took on 3 players and then shot from just inside the box hitting the top right hand corner of the net. A class goal with a celebration to match!!

Another defensive mistake, although there was clearly a push involved on the on Rosehill defender on 63 minutes and resulted in Rosehill pegged back to a 3 goal advantage.

Rosehill scored their sixth on 80 minutes with a screamer from just outside the box from utility player James Defreitas followng an assist from Newman.

With 3 minutes to go the referee and managers decided to end the game following a Shoreham player going down five minutes after hitting his head against the post and was unconscious for 15 minutes until the ambulance to arrive to take him to hospital.

He has now been let out of hospital under strict supervision following a number of scans and tests in hospital. Best wishes to him from all at Rosehill and hoping that he makes a full and speedy recovery.

Rosehill can take a number of positives from the game and need to work harder in certain areas at training on Tuesday for their must win game next Sunday against Knowles.

Max Derkson won his first man of the match award with some never say die defending. All in all this was a competent display from Rosehill with other notable performances from Troy in his first game, Joe once again was class as was James Defreitas. The midfield was at times a little lacking due to the strength of their oppenents and found it hard to put on their usual display of clinical passing and team play but judt did enough.

Once again Charlie and Stonham came up with the goods to ensure another Rosehill win.

Dan Shrubb came on as sub following a knee injury and Mark Davies proved that his is a great asset to the team and made things happen when he came on. James Freeman was rested for the game following his bad chest infection and will get his chance to shine as Rosehill's midfield dynamo in the game against Knowles. Arron came on for the last 10 minutes which was cut short by the game finishing early due to the injury to the Shoreham 3rd 's player.

Rosehill are now second on goal difference to The Wilmington Lions who need to play "The Downs Hotel" and Rosehill twice.

Back to back promotions looks on the cards for Rosehill but need to up their game to make sure this happens.

On to Tuesday and back to training at Deason and a lot of hard work and effort needs to be put in to get back to our best.

Cheers

Tone
