Match Summary

Nice win today. Match was tied at half time 0-0, but the good guys pulled off the trilogy with a 3-0 win.  Larry was pleased with the turn out, and has purchased a Google smart phone with mapping service for the Attacker who couldn’t find the field!

“I always stress a strong defense. Defenders are the unsung heros. Once again we held them off with a strong diamondback defense, consisting of Colin, P. J., Matt, & Scuba. I seldom change a successful defense, especially in a close game like yesterday's. My philosophy is like most competitive coaches in any sport. My primary duty is winning.” – Larry at the Mennen Speed Stick Post-Game Interview. He also mentioned for those players looking for more playing time, when we get a 4 goal lead, you are always welcome to be Goalie, and fish balls out of the net!

Mike had a Keller-esq save on a point blank shot during the first half, and without this heroic save, the outcome would have been different. #2’s stats are being skewed by the ref’s, as one of his headers (assist from Carlos), was disallowed for off-sides. The lines man was about 127 feet away from being in the right spot to make the call!

We scored 3 quick ones at the beginning of the second half when they subbed in their bench in the defense.

01 - Carlos got inside the box, dribbled to the end line, passed across to #2, Tom set a moving screen on the goalie - took the goalie out of the play, and that was goal #1.

02 - Tom scored the second one from a rebound which came off a shot from Alan or Gerry

03 - Tom passed to #2 the ball - who beat a defender and scored on the near post

MOM #1 - Mike - for making a point-blank save - sacrificing his body - living up to his new name - "One nut"-  in the first half to keep it tied.

MOM #2 - Colin - for passing out "It's a boy" cigars before an 8:30 am game - expecting us to be up 6-0 at half time, so we could smoke them - it didn't happen since we were tied.  Maybe next week.

Honors: #2 for writing the stats down with his T. Owens pen which he kept under his shin guard, and QB wrist band play card holder where he made the notes.
