Match Summary – Zulus

We have another guest writer this week (see if you can guess)…I love guest writers, so feel free to submit your game summary for publishing!!!! The pay is crap, but it can be very rewarding!

My take on yesterday's game…We had to borrow a player from Over 40 team to start. Poway is a hard place to fill a team. Have a full team and a couple of the players who played will not be there next week. Like at yesterday's game, if we have to borrow a player(s), as a courtesy, we'll be giving them enough play time for their troubles.

As usual, the defense shut them out. We made many position changes at the start of second half - Defenders were Andrew (who scored first goal), P.J., Matt, Bjarte, Alan, Number two & ?. Carlos had four goals, Tom had two goals, number two had a goal. The final score is eight to zero.

MOM/MVP: Those who involved in defense.

Please come early on Sunday to insure of keeping your starting position.

Additional Comments: If you ask me Zulus brought a decent game to the Ranch, especially through the mid-field. Respect. Also Respect for Rancho for playing better toegher this week too. Personally, I’d like to see us work on the following this upcoming week in Poway: Better team play/passing in the offensive side of the field..more movement, more passing options, etc. Look, it is nice to punch the ball up front and have #2 and Carlos get it done, no matter how good/bad your toe-poke-pass is to them, but let’s see if we can up the numbers getting forward and quality in attacking. How about that Jack?

Other Comments: Last week, I can even remembver PJ, Colin, and anyone who played ‘D’ in the first half get a their chances for goals/assists in the 2nd half. Good times! One season everyone on the team scored I think. Maybe there is still time this season to blow out some huff-n-puffers!

Goals (not in order)

01 – Andy – Header (Assist by Carlos): Carlos’ pass through the 18 yard box was WAY better than the scrappy goal I put in (Shot -> Rebound -> Shot off Cross Bar -> Bounced Back Out -> Header for Goal

02 – Tom had two ‘just lovely’ goals this week. I mean really attractive. If he keeps this up, we better bring out the videographer! One was a pass from Allen, where he crushed an outside the foot from the 18 yard box, curling away from the keeper into the side net goal.

03 – Tom’s 2nd goal came from a cross (I think off a free kick) whipped in from Matt. Keeper got caught in No-Man’s Land, and he burried a header to the back of the net with authority. Big man got behind that one too!

04 – Carlos (Assist by Tom) – some very nice goals. I don’t remember them all.

05 – Carlos (Assist by #2)

06 – Carlos (Assist ?) – I think there was an inside the 18 yard box rocket that went upper net, but I am feeeling foggy on that one. If I made it up, well it sounded good, and Carlos did score it

07 – Carlos (Assist ?) – Sick near side low hard shot beating the keeper…NEAR post. Ryan #4 would not have let that shit fly, but this keepr did…but is was a very good shot

08 – Andy had one fo the worst goals ever on record. Like this shit should be on youtube. I was playing left defense, and won a header at mid-field, and headed it back towards the goal..bounced a bunch of times, hit a few dirt clods, and next thing you know it rambles into the net. I don’t think it was touched, but it can barely belive it. Nice stat padder!

GSOTW (Goal Scorer of the Week): Carlos

CGNW (Charity Goal Next Week): #2 (pass that guy the ball..and some good balls too, he needs more goals for his stats!)

MMOTM (Missing Man of the Match): Jorge (What up CUATE!)
