Vipers Vs Sparta
Saturday 3rd October
James Reed up front, Joe right wing, Kyle on the left, Thomas midfield, James Catley & Sam in defence..Matt in goal.

A fresh look to the Vipers starting line up saw both ex Sparta players start for the Vipers….wasting no time in getting the attack underway, James and Joe linked up well down the right creating a chance for James, who was tackled just before shooting…good support from Joe kept the pressure on but finally cleared.
Good tackling from Tom in midfield – wining the ball from the goalkick and playing a nice pass out to Kyle….good run and cross through to James but put out for a corner by the Sparta defence. Good corner from Kyle and well picked up by the Sparta keeper.
More good tackling from Thomas in midfield, this time running through the middle of the pitch and firing in a 20 yard effort that just went over the bar….vintage Gargett ..and obviously relishing his midfield role…
Nice clearances from James Catley, passing through to Kyle and attacking again….this time it had to be a goal but both James and Joe somehow couldn’t finish the bobbling ball….hard lines guys !
Attacks at the Vipers end saw the ball out for a goal kick, well marshalled by Matthew keeping his concentration up as always…the goal kick was taken by Kyle and cleared well…. this time running through to James who fired a first time shot just wide… unlucky again ! Shots from all angles but just not picking the right angles….great to see the Vipers keep the pressure on with good work from the whole team to restrict Spartas chances.
Kyle working hard down the left..taking on 2 defenders and getting the cross over to Joe who slid the ball away…
Sparta kicking off and James Reed straight in with the tackle…winning the ball and running through Spartas midfield, rounding the last defender and slotting away lovely…great goal and 2 nil Vipers !
Kyle & Thomas interplaying well….creating another chance for James Reed who again, slotted the ball away beautifully…very composed mate !
Max, Kaie & Mason coming on, for Joe, James & Thomas
Kaie straight into to play, tackling well, playing the ball out to Mase on the right…..nice run and good cross but just too close to the keeper…
Nice play again from Kaie, again through to Mason who looked to shoot, Kaie just nipping the ball off his foot and the cross / shot just evading James Catleys out-stretched foot…
James Catley on a great game today and really getting involved….great effort Jamesy Boy !
More good play from Mason & Kaie on the right, nice throw ins (down the line)….cleared away by Sparta but Sam picked up the loose ball and cleared away well…good look up first and the ball went through to Kaie who’s effort was just saved.
Kaie again, involved, picking the ball up in the Vipers half, running through midfield and crossing to James who slotted away again….
Nice tackling from Mason winning the ball back again, but 3 Sparta defenders ended his mazy run, clearing away again…but James Reed was in there, picking up the loose ball and slotting away to score his 4th !
Half time – well earned rest for a really hard working team…great effort all round today !
Team started the 2nd half with the same line up….attacking regularly again, good, quick throws catching Sparta on the hop….and more than a few corners created more chances…this time a corner from the right and James Reed there again to guide the ball home for his 5th….great performance James !...It also shows what we can do when we get corners into the box !
Lovely interceptions from Max, composed as ever and lovely passing through the midfiled….brilliant stuff mate and great to see such consistent performances !

Kaie getting on the score sheet today..sniffing out a chance and punishing the Sparta defence….good opportunistic goal !
More good pressure and passing from Mason down the right, crossing well but just evading his team mates….Kyle eventually collecting the ball then firing a shot just wide – hard lines !
From the goal kick, Joe pounced on a weak clearance and finished well….the ultimate poacher back in the goals !...great stuff Joe and finishing well !

Consistent effort and great endeavour from the whole team…..James Catley working so hard today, Max tackling well and always looking to attack..

Thomas – Great as always…important tackles and some good long range shooting !

Great team performance today and we ran out worthy winners, but commisserations to Sparta who never gave up and deserved more from a game that they never gave up on !
