Monkton 15 V St Cuthberts  0 – 19.09.09

Another lovely morning at St James Catley park saw the Vipers up against St Cuthberts…..Matt in goal, Sam, Thomas, James R, Kaie, Kyle and Joe…..Subs Max, James C and Mason…

From the kick off a lovely ball from Kaie arrowed down to the corner flag, saw Kyle chase down and cross, just a bit too close to the keeper who collected it – good idea though Kaie..straight on the attack.

Throw in from James R down the right went over Joes head to run onto but a handball from The Joemeister gave a freekick away….

Good tackling in midfield again, Kaie, James R and Kyle all tackling well, with some lovely runs from Joe sniffing out a line to goal – excellent play….

Quicker throw in from St Cuthberts saw James  R intercept and play in Kaie…running through but just shooting wide..

From the goal kick to Kyle passed into James R who ran across the pitch, down the right and tucked it away for his 1st Vipers goal ! Well done mate !

From the goal kick, the ball broke down the right and was picked up by Kyle…who had seemingly picked up a new admirer….the young St Cuthberts no. 5 …a young lady…had taken a particular attraction to Kyle and wasn’t taking no for an answer….hanging onto Kyles shirt from grim life ….not that it bothered Kyle who just kept running…..hehe…free kick Vipers.

Good passing down the line brought some lovely Vipers crosses and shots, from Kaie, Kyle and Joe….a couple of lovely backheel passes kept the ball moving …nice bit of skill from the guys….this time a looping ball from Kaie came to Joe who nodded the ball into the far right corner….a headed goal – brilliant Joe !

Clearance from Thomas to Kyle and onto James R who backheeled to Kaie, 1st time pass onto Joe who couldn’t quite control the pass but a really great bit of play from you guys !

Short corners were the call of the day – St Cuthberts were giving you the time and you really made the most of it – after a couple of unsuccessful attempts KAie made the most of his 3rd go, absolutely hammering a shot from the edge of the box into the top corner – great finishing.

Subs on/off – Mason on, James C on, Max on …..James R off, Kaie off and Kyle lovely pass from Thomas out from right back down the line to Mason, who’s first touch took him inside, and a quick right footed shot slid inside the near post – quick reactions Mason and lovely goal.

More attacking down the left from James c  saw a great ball right across the box with Thomas and Mason both racing into the box, somehow it slipped past them both and went out….hard lines but brilliant chance created from James c.

Another attack from Kaie, playing in Joe who ran on and passed it across the goal, hitting one post, rolling across the goal and hitting the other post, before he poked it home to score again – well done.

Half time – drinks ! It was another warm day !

Kicking off then a nice ball from Thomas out right to Mason -  good run down the right, initially kicking it a bit too far but winning it back and crossing well to Joe who pounced to score – great finish Joe and good work Mason – Good support from Thomas and a nice piggy back from James c….

Goal kick from St Cuthberts keeper saw the ball into midfield and a chance ball from St C got it through to their striker, Sam and Thomas just missing the ball,…but incredibly quick reactions from Matthew pouncing on the ball to save the day – GREAT reactions Matthew particularly as you hadn’t had much to do for a lot of the game, really great concentration bud !

From the brilliant goal kick, the ball bounced straight over midfield and on for Joe who ran through the middle and slotted the ball away….Matthews first assist !

Kicking off again, good tackles from Thomas saw the ball run through to the St Cuthberts goalkeeper but he unfortunately handled outside his box “HANDBALL” we heard shouted from the far touchline….didn’t we Phil….Kaie took the free kick and the keeper made a great save….(the comment from John and he hasn’t even sent him off)

More attacking from Vipers saw further goals from Kaie, James R and Kyle (who scored after loads of attacking down the left – very determined to score today I reckon !)

Overall a fantastic performance from you all – absolutely relentless in your attacking.

We have to make sure we keep taking our quick throw ins, and goal kicks – make the most of the space around you and don’t give teams time to get into position.

Well done everyone – this result keeps us flying high !

Roll on Tuesday and a good test for us all  - Man of the Match today, Joe and James R – well done guys !

Focus, Fun and Football ! Vipers !!!
