At last a league match, our first for a month following a month of cup fixtures and a welcome win for St Andrews. We got off to our usual start taking the game to the opposition and it wasn’t long before we had our first opportunity with Aaron forcing 68th keeper into a fine save after just 5 mins, 68th had a chance a minute later but Glenn was there to clear of the line, Aaron then had a shot blocked before a 3 man move involving Lawrence, Callum and  Aaron who this time shot wide, we got the breakthrough on 12 mins when Aaron challenged the keeper for the ball it spun out to Callum who saw the keeper of his line and hit a superb chip over the keeper and into the net 1-0, Boot had a chance on 16 mins missing from close range then Lawrence headed over the bar from an Aaron corner, Callum then had a shot from 20 yards that sailed over the bar from a fine pass from Gazza before Gazza himself tested the keeper from the edge of the box which was well saved, we were relentless at this stage in search of a second goal which we got on 35 mins, the ball fell to Gazza on the edge 68th box he looked like he was gonna shoot but fooled everyone by playing a superb pass into Aaron who made no mistake firing into the corner 2-0, we continued to dominate with Boot having another effort which deflected wide and Tommy somehow finding himself in 68th penalty area turned his man well and fired across goal for Boot to shoot wide again, the last 5 mins of the first half was crazy,  on 41 mins they played the ball into the box, Simon came out to punch it clear and flapped it allowing them to pull a goal back 2-1, a minute later we had a corner, Aaron peeled out to the 18 yard line as Boot took the corner placing it beautifully towards Aaron who volleyed goal wards which deflected of 68th arm no penalty given, on 43 mins Glenn fired in a cross which Boot mishit, 68th keeper spilled it into the net to give us a two goal cushion again 3-1, that was to last only a minute as Simon decides to replicate his earlier effort failing once again to clear there cross breaking Glens finger in the process 3-2, a minute before half time we regained a two goal cushion with Gazza instrumental once more with another superb pass to Aaron who fired in his second of the game 4-2 half time. As the second half began we were straight into the attack with Gazza bombing down the wing he cut inside and chipped the keeper his effort just going over, he then had another shot 5 mins later blasting just over, 53 mins Aaron found space in the box and hit a low cross to his strike partner Boot who hit his shot low and hard into the net 5-2, two mins later 68th got a throw in near our 18 yard box as the ball came in it fell to their man who headed home unmarked 5-3, just before the hour mark Lawerence played a fine through ball to Aaron who rounded the keeper to score his hat-trick 6-3, Simon did manage to make a couple of saves getting down low to turn 68th shot round the post on 70 mins and again a minute later tipping there forwards header onto the bar,, but on 75 mins he spilled the ball again as there striker shot on goal Stuarty was there to save his blushes clearing of the line, 80 mins 68th pulled another goal back when we failed to mark up from a corner there man had a free header to make it 6-4, two mins later they got another corner and once again we failed to pick their players up allowing them another free header to make it 6-5 and give us squeaky bum time on the line for the last 5 mins, that was until Aaron was pushed in there box and up stepped Boot to fire home and complete his hat-trick and give us a 7-5 victory. Another explosive display of firepower from the Saints although it should have been more comfortable only for some slack marking from set pieces, something we must work on at training.
