Once again the Saints throw away a lead in a game with a disastrous second half performance. We began the game by far the better team with Aaron missing a glorious opportunity after just 5 mins when Dazzy played a lovely pass which put Aaron through on goal only to hit his shot over the bar, Aaron this time turned provider putting Winky clear and as he rounded the keeper Geordie seemed to get in his way and he pulled his shot wide, Glenbryn had a chance of their own clipping the post after beating our offside trap, Aaron then blazed over the bar from a Gazza pass and he put his effort over the bar once again on 20 mins, on 27 mins Glenbryn took the lead against the run of play when Tommy felled there player in the box to concede a penalty which they converted 1-0 Glenbryn, we equalised 3 mins later when a cross came over from Aaron and Dazzy volleyed home from close range 1-1, 35 mins Winky played in Geordie who fired into the top corner 2-1, Aaron almost increased our lead only for his header to get cleared of the line, he then had a shot well saved with Gazza also seeing his effort on goal saved, right before half time we got our third with Lawrence getting onto the end of a Winky corner to power his header home 3-1. We almost increased our lead at start of second half when Geordie played in Aaron who once again had his shot on goal saved by their keeper, 52 mins saw the start of our collapse when Glenbryn made it 3-2 with us getting caught on the break and their forwad firing home, 60 mins they equalised when we tried to play offside only to get caught out leaving them unmarked to fire home 3-3, Ryan then made a save when they again ran thru from us trying to play offside and on 65 mins Ryan made another fine save turning the effort round the post, Glenbryn took the lead on 67 mins with some poor marking from our defence 4-3, on 70 mins we were awarded a free kick 25 yards from goal which Aaron struck, their keeper saved well and again from Geordie of the rebound, Glenbryn then went up the other end and scored again when Stuarty was shoved of the ball and there player went on and scored 5-3, Winky hit a free kick from 20 yards which was well saved before being substituted as i came on to make my final appearance after 17 years of playing old boys league football, i almost had the fairytale ending when Lawrence poked the ball to me in the box which i struck hard and low, it was heading for the bottom corner only for the Glenbryn keeper to brilliantly save it, Glenbryn made it 6 when their forward managed to chip Ryan from inside his box, final score 6-3.

A dissappointing end to the season which started so well for us until the Christmas break, the first defeat to the Berlin the turning point in our season as we led in so many games but failed to see it out which ended in defeat, a combination of lack of fitness and player attitude the reason for our downfall, an issue that needs addressing for next season. Hope to see everyone back next season for the challenge of the first division with pre season planned for mid July.
