Kicked off at 10:30 AM

Thrybergh Top Club won the penalty shootout.

A rest from the premier league this week as it was round 3 of the brian beeley knock out cup v local rivals herringthorpe club. As usual in cup games the gaffer rotated the pack and changed bk to 352, Housley was in goal with ian dosh n wayne making up the bk 3 conlon and jonni was the attacking wingbks with brunyee n dukey the holding 2. Jonty was in free role behind parkey n coulthard. which left a strong bench of rougvie jake jack ollie n salty.

We set off really well playing sum very good football pinning herringthorpe bk and we deserverdly took the lead with a good header from parkey at the bk post. We continued on the front foot and took a 2-0 lead from a cross come shot from coulthard which gave there keeper no chance. We took our foot of peddle for last 10 mins and allowed herringthorpe sum encouragement and we needed our goalkeeper on a couple of occassions to keep our 2 goal lead going into half time.

2nd half we was quite poor and herringthorpe was the better side with us relying again on our keeper to keep our 2-0 lead, We did look dangerous going forward and ad a couple of good situations to get the 3rd and kill the game but we just was making the wrong decions. rougvie replaced conlon on the hour and 5 mins later A double change came off came parkey n jonni to be replaced by jake n salty. it was a little too end to end with no control in game from us and they pulled 1 bk with an excellent strike giving housley no chance. this seemed to rattle us and herringthorpe had a great spell they equalised with another good strike. There tails was up and we had to stand strong. There was a little break in play whilst dukey found is private parts having had ball smashed in them from point blank range :/ in end he couldnt carry on and had to be replace by jack. last 10 mins came a bit end to end with herringthorpe having the better chances but our keeper was having 1 of them games luckily for us. A forced change came as jonty's groin had gone so parkey came bk on and we changed to a bk 4 to see us through to full time.

1st period of extra time we was good and scored our best goal of game sum great movement from back to front with rrougvie finding jake who hammered it into bottom corner to put us bk in lead. Herringthorpe equalised from a goal mouth scramble which should have been a foul on parkey but the ref failed to see the push.

2nd period was very slow with both teams tired herringthorpe ad sum good oppertunities but again good defending and goalkeeping kept them out, We had a great chance ourselfs when salty drifted in from the right and just hit us shot narrowly wide of the post. The ref brought it to a close and pens it was.

Always a lottery on pens and this time we was the lucky ones this time with sum quality pens and good stops from jamie.

Overall A good opening 30 mins and then we dropped well of the pace and we know as a team it wasnt good enough today and we need to improve next week v wick but the main thing in cup games is been in the hat for the next round and we are utc.
