Binfield Lions U10 3 vs 0 Ascot Royals

<p>Going inbto the game we sensed an enormous amount of confidene from the lads, having beaten the legue leaders last time out and in doing so keeping our 1st clean sheet of the season! <p>I guess the confidence became complacency as after the opening 5 minutes in which we really attacked the Royals the Lions flattered to decieve, not withstanding an early chance for Rory we had little to show for our efforts. &nbsp;To be fair to a Royals team who had been desperately short of success since Christmas sensed their oppertunity and of it wanst for Joe who made some brilliant saves as well as the crossbar we would have fell behind. <p>That said we also should have scored in the 1st half as Harry went close twice, 1 clipping the top of the bar but at the break 0-0 represented a fair refletion on the game. &nbsp;The lads were toldthat &nbsp;in no uncertian terms did the 1st 25 minutes equate to a good performance, the movement, marking, passing and effort needed to be improved if we were to take anything from the game. <p>Almost immediately fromn the restart it seemed as the talking to had an effect and a lovely move from defence to midfield and forward resulted in an effort on goal that their keeper kept out well. &nbsp;It was no coincidence that OH was having a greatly improved game and was starting to cause panic amongst the Royals with his range of passes and neat touches, Harry &amp; OH were combining to good effect down the left and when Harry took a quick throw to OH whose quick feet got him past his marker he sought to feed the ball across goal from an acute angle, the dangerous crossshot caused confusion and niether defender, goalkeeper of attacker went for the ball and it bounced across the goal and into the goal - 1-0 Lions. <p>It was the oerfect start and some of the football we played from that point was as good as it has ever been, Harry, TJ, Rory and Ollie were coming more into the game and bossing the midfield and attack after attack rained down on the Royals goal, another snapshot from Harry was well saved and Harry then scored to put the game to bed with a tidy finish, 2-0 Lions. <p>Jack and Joe were looking comfortable with everything thre Royals threw at them, several good saves and some great blocks ensured our clean sheet was kept intact - sometimes they were outnumbered 4 v 2 but still saved! &nbsp;Harry again sized up a shot which the keeper could only parry but Harvey was on hand to bundle the ball over the line for the 3rd, 3-0 Lions. &nbsp; <p>Several further chances were created as TJ, Ollie, OH, Rory all went close to adding to the lead, to be honest we lost our discipline towarsd the end as players wanted to score b ut all in all a decent 2nd half performance and the game was won by the stonger team. &nbsp;So thats now 3 wins on the spin and 2 clean sheets, given the targets set at the beginning of the season some might just get them..... <p>Next week we go to a resurgent Sandhurst Town whose win against us before Christmas gave us the unwanted title of the bottom team at Christmas...not to mention our lowest point of the season! &nbsp;If the season had started again we would be top with Sandhurst 2nd! &nbsp;The football we have been playing and the success it has been bringing and it hasn't gone unnoticed and the Lions will &nbsp;have a welcome suprise on Saturday.....
