Ashridge Park 2 vs 8 Binfield Lions

<p>The trouble with all these high scoring matches is that my memory suffers with the hard facts of the matter, don't they say you can only remember 6 things or something? <p>Anyway, after last weeks debacle we opted for a more direct approach as this pitch wasn't condusive to passing football, so we adopted a 3-2-3 formation with TJ &amp; Harry S occuping the wing back areas. <p>Whatever we said seemed to work as we immedialtely laid seige to the Ashridge Park goal and created several scoring opportunities, our 1st came after some good play down the left hand side between Harry S &amp; Ollie with Ryan laying the ball off for Harvey to volley home from the edge of the area, 0-1. &nbsp;Ollie was finding lots of space on the left with OH and our midfield keen to give hime the ball it wasn't long before we doubled our lead after Ollie weaved his way into the box to smash the ball across the goal and in off the defender of an OG, 0-2. &nbsp;It was at this point going to be a question of how many we could get, their keeper ws having an inspired game as shot after shot came in. &nbsp;In fairness to Ashridge they looked lively on the break with their #6 looking particularly dangerous, also with Binfield (old) boy Micheal in their team they weere always going to give it a right go. &nbsp;Ollie wasn't to be kept off the score sheet for long when he picked the ball up on the half way line and drove at the defence and unleashed a screamer into the roof of the net leaving the keeper with no chance, 0-3. &nbsp;Another cross into the box from our right caused panic in the defence and another OG was scored, 0-4. &nbsp;As half-time approached we scored the goal of the match and basically everything we had asked them to do on this tricky surface, whilst defending a corner Rory won the ball nudged it to TJ who fired the ball down the line for Harvey to chase who in turn beat his marker for pace then crossed the ball into the box where after a bit of furtune the ball found it's way to Ryan (who had run from his own box) to control and smash the ball into the goal, 0-5. &nbsp;Harvey doubled his tally for the day when after a neat cross from JP he headed home from the 6-yard box as the defence looked on, 0-6. &nbsp;Somewhere between the goals we conceded a goal but I can't report on it as I turned to speak to some parents who were watching the other game! Half-time, 1-6. <p>Team talk was easy, keep doing what you are doing but get me some goals! <p>Another fine effort saw the Lions extend their lead as Harry S smashed a screamer into the top cornner from the adge of the box, a type of goal that only a few are capable of scoring, 1-7. &nbsp;We created several more chances including another screamer from Zac against his old team and somehow the keeper flew across his goal and kept it out, Harry W went close as did others. &nbsp;Our final goal came from our other wing back TJ when he pounced on a loose ball in the box and rifled it into the goal, 1-8. &nbsp;Again Ashridge Park scored but I can't remember that either, 2-8 final score. <p>A solid team performance in a system and style which they weren't used to, we stressed before the game of the importance in having a 'plan b' and we certianly do now, it was pleasing to see that both of the players who were key to the change in formation (TJ &amp; Harry S) got on the score sheet and it shows that we have goals throughout the team. &nbsp;In truth any of the lads could have won MOM but given his 2 goals and assists today I felt Harvey deserved some recognition, well done Harvey. &nbsp;We must take this application into every match for the rest of the season and you never know what might happen. <p>We will be training tonight (19th) if you can make it and please put the 2nd March in your diaries as that is our next game which happens to be the semi-final so please get family &amp; friends readied as we will need all the support we can get! <p>We don't have a game on Saturday but I am keen to try and do something with the boys next weekend (probably Sunday) just to keep our powder dry so tp speak - I know the rugby boys won't be able to attend. &nbsp;I will send out a notification later in the week if I organise anything.
