Binfield Lions U10 1 vs 2 Camberley Rockets

<p>After last weeks improved performance we went into the game with renewed optism against last seasons league champions, Camberley Rockets. &nbsp;We welcomed Nasha into the squad for his debut. <p>Playing our now familiar 3-2-1 formation we looked comfortable from the start and went about having a shot which floew over within 10 seconds! &nbsp;The pattern had already formed when the Lions seemed camped in the Camberley half, when possession was lost every player was quick to get back in position to thawrt the dangerous looking counter-attaks from the Rockets. &nbsp;OH was looking sharp up front and holding the ball up well for the 2 midfielders of TJ &amp; Hazza to support well with both Rory &amp; Harvey non-stop up and down the flanks. &nbsp;Ollie C was looking strong and confident at the back in dealing with anything that came his way, Joe was a good communicator to hid defence. &nbsp;One driving run from Ollie saw him beat 3 players and play a ball inside to Harry who was unmarked in front of the goal but couldnt turn and get his shot off before being closed down, OH also went close with a shot across the goal - it really was 1-way traffic. &nbsp;We made a couple of changes and introduced Nasha &amp; Jack, the changes caused slight confusion in our ranks and within 30 seconds the Rockets had taken an undeserved lead. Nasha's 1st touch was to take centre with Hazza...in fairness to Camberley the lad did strike it well and it left Joe no chance. &nbsp;The Lions refused to let their heads drop as they continued to press and it was obvious that Nasha's pace and trickery had already worried the Rockets as they sat deeper and deeper, the wing backs and in particular Rory were starting to look dangerous. &nbsp;A series of corners were won and after a shout from the coaches to attack it Nasha obilged and his header flying into the goal and even with a player on the line they still couldnt stop it - great goal. &nbsp;The half drew to a close with much of the same although the Roackets were still looking useful going forward. &nbsp;H/T: 1-1. <p>During the break we told the lads they had the been the best teama and deserved to be in front but it was importantant to continue after the re-start. <p>The 2nd hald appeared to be better than the 1st as chance after chance was created, Rory in in another game would have had a hatrick - it was good to see him get in those positions and then have the presence of mind and energy to get back. &nbsp;Other chnaces were created but we could not score the goal or goals that our play deserved, with so much attention to going forward it was inevitable that we would leave gaps at the back and Joe made some magnificent saves to keep out Camberley - to the neutral it must have been a belter of a game! &nbsp;As the clock ran down the game seemed to close out for a deserved draw but in the last minute the Lions recieved a devastating blow when Ollie fell over in the box and even though he was facing the wrong way the ball was adjudged to have 'brushed' his arm as he stood up - nobody could believe it when the ref blew his whistle to award a penalty. &nbsp;The Camberley coaches were appologetic and said that it wasnt a penalty and we didnt deserve it but that i guess has been our story so far.... <p>In summary we put in our best performance for some time and if we play like that we will again become a team to be reckoned with, a special mention to Nasha who started like had played for years, a good debut and a fab goal to kick-start his football with the club. &nbsp;The MOM was without question Ollie who put in a performance that i think was as good as he has ever done since joining the Lions. <p>Next week its Burghfield away in the cup so clean boots please and a nice early meet (away) at 8.30, if we play like we have recently then our luck will change.
