Sandhurst Town Reds 2 vs 6 Binfield Lions U10

<p>In a match where we welcomed back JP into the Lions fold we were always likely to be too strong for a very physical Sandhurst team - the games against them possibly defined our best and worst moments of the season? &nbsp;What a difference a few months makes.... <p>Although the return of JP was welcoming the absence of Ollie C was a blow as he would have relished the physical battle against Sandhurst. &nbsp;We all turned up a bit disjointed as it seems its nbot only Binfield that suffers with car park problems! <p>We stuck to our more attacking 1-4-1 formation and toook the game to Sandhurst, some nice football was being played and we were at times carving them open but failed to hit the target with the shots created, both Harvey and Rory going close. &nbsp;Harry was getting particular attention that the ref really should have dealt with but it didnt stop him from playing his game, TJ &amp; OH were matching their couterparts with the tackles and Jack &amp; Joe seemed comfortable at the back - that said after a patient build up we lost the ball and a swift counter attack provided Sandhurst with an oppertunity to which the forward scored admirably which left Joe with no chance, 1-0. <p>Although the goal went against us i dont think anyone panicked and in particular the players as they continued with the pressing football, after a lovely interchange outside the box OH was fouled and he put his hand up 1st - he stepped up and thumped an unstoppable free kick into the top corner, great strike 1-1. <p>The goal really spurred us on and when JP played a lovely one-two with Harvey it left him through on goal but unfortunately the ref had already blown for a free kick on Harvey, TJ was 1st this time but the result was no less as he too arrowed the ball into the back of the net, lovely strike 1-2. <p>It was now a case of how many we got and wave after wave of attacks threatened the Sandhurst goal, Jack was in control at the back and Joe was confident with everything he did. &nbsp;The midfield 4 were all interchanging brilliantly and Harvey was keen to add to his tally from up front, after another foul around the edge of the box is was JP's turn to have a strike, with the ball left of centre it was only a small target but he stepped up and bent the ball into the top corner to score a fab goal on his return, thats 4 goals from our last 4 free kicks - Brazil eat your heart out! 1-3.&nbsp; <p>With the Lions in control the level of football went up a notch and with probably the move of the match; Rory took a flick from Harvey to round off a 10 pass move, brilliant stuff, 1-4. <p>Sandhurst did look quick and powerful on the break and to their credit didnt stop playing and scored another good goal just before H/T to give more parity to the score than the game actually was, 2-4 - Half Time. <p>A reminders were given to the boys to ensure they snuffed out any threat as another goal for them could be critical, that said the main encouragement was to keep doing what we had been doing. &nbsp;Almost immedialtly Harry scored a couple of quick fire goals to put the game beyond Sandhurst, both of them were good team moves and one in particular involved a swift break to which Harry finished beautifully, 2-5, 2-6. <p>We could have scored more as JP hit a post, Harvey had one cleared off the line and OH, TJ and Rory all went close but their keeper made some good saves. &nbsp;At the other end Joe was becoming more of a spectator but the sign of a good keeper shows when he is called upon as Sandhurst were awarded a penalty, but not at any point did i think that Joe wouldnt save it and as it proved as he flew to his right to keep out the spot kick. <p>MOM - A dominant perfomance in a game when he recieved a fair amount of stick from people that should know better. <p>In summary; this perfomance and scoreline would have frightened a few teams, not to mention the odd 'spectator' - in parts we were unplayable and will only get stronger. &nbsp;Winning our remaining 2 league games is now not only a possibility but a probability. &nbsp;Welcome back JP! &nbsp; <p>Training has now finished at Brackenhale so we will go to The Elms (Avis building) on Park Road from now on although we might be playing Finch this week - TBC. &nbsp;We also have our 1st 9-a-side game v Hawley on Sat and i am awaiting KO detials.
