Binfield Lions U10 1 vs 0 Camberley Rockets

<p style="background: white;">After the recent break it was always going to be a tough ask to face off against a good Camberley Rockets who had just gone top after a 10-0 win the previous week!&nbsp; <p style="background: white;">After a good and thorough warm-up the lads seemed up for it, they were reminded about the unfortunate manner in which they lost the game earlier in the season when Ollie was adjudged to have handled in the last minute of the game to award a penalty to which they duly scored - little else was needed in the team talk. <p style="background: white;">We started with our attacking wing back system with Jack central at the back, Rory &amp; Harry occupying the wings, TJ &amp; OH in the centre with Harvey up front - Joe was as usual in goal. &nbsp;Some good football was played by both teams with plenty of effort, the Lions seemed to have the upper hand and were looking to force the issue - Harry played a lovely through ball to Rory in the 1st 5 minutes who went racing clear but his shot just clipped the keepers legs and bouncing to safety. &nbsp;Shortly after a lovely ball over the top gave Harvey the chance to show his pace and he beat the keeper and defender to the ball and hit a lob from 20 yards which bounced inches wide. &nbsp;Shortly afterwards TJ found Harvey out wide and from a tight angle tried to chip it over the keeper and into the net but the goalie pulled of a decent fingertip save to prevent the opener, it was good stuff from the Lions as Jack was his usual assured self and Joe was continuing with his form since Christmas - making a couple of outstanding saves. &nbsp;OH was looking dangerous on the ball and was spraying the passes around which was seemingly hurting Camberley, after all of our good work in the opening quarter of an hour we dropped off for the remaining 10 minutes of the half as Camberley took control of the game. &nbsp;In fairness they worked hard and Jack, Ollie &amp; Harry were fighting at the back to keep it tight, TJ &amp; OH were battling hard in a very physical midfield! &nbsp;We nearly took the lead when a Harry smashed a free-kick from 25 yards which beat the keeper but luckily for Camberley they had a player on the line who in fairness made a brave header off the line to keep the scores level. <p style="background: white;">H/T: 0-0 <p style="background: white;">During the break we asked the lads to compete physically with Camberley as they were bossing us a little but we reminded then that for most of the half we were the better team. <p style="background: white;">The 2nd half was outstanding as wave after wave of Lions attacks threatened the league leaders, the opening 15 minutes of the 2nd half was as dominant as you are likely to see.&nbsp; Everybody was doing their jobs and working as a complete team, several chances came and went and we thought luck would again be against us as a drive from Harry seemed to cross the line in similar fashion to Lampard v Germany but they referee waved play on!!&nbsp; As we searched for the opener a rash foul on TJ and Ollie asked if he could take it, so given his confidence he was granted his wish &ndash; to be fair the angle was against the right footer as he has a small target but he stepped up and arrowed the ball into the far top corner to leave the keeper with no chance to give the Lions a deserved lead, 1-0. <p class="MsoNormal">We immediately switched to 2 at the back as we sought to hold out for the win and in fairness to Camberley they upped their game and created a few chances which Joe did brilliantly to keep out, everybody was getting back and throwing themselves at the ball to repel the opposition, Jack &amp; Rory were particularly evident in the sustained pressure.&nbsp; It did look safe until after failing to clear our lines their winger took the ball round 2/3 defenders and got to the by-line and clipped a brilliant cross the middle of the goal and straight onto the forwards head, Joe was out of the picture so the forward had an empty net to equalise in but luck was on our side as his firm header crashed against the bar! <p class="MsoNormal">We saw the game out without major incident and another 3 points were added to the collection since Christmas, having faced the team who were top of the league when we played them 3 times in the new year and coming away with 2 wins and 1 draw it seems we are becoming a bit of a &lsquo;graveyard&rsquo; for wannabe champions&hellip;.. F/T: 1-0. <p class="MsoNormal">&nbsp; <p class="MsoNormal">MOM - Ollie for tireless work both going forward and at the back, any one of the players could have won the trophy after this performance but thanks to that little bit of brilliance Ollie took the honours.
