Big Carson romps in Small-Town!
A fantastic debut from Athletico Harchesterio Leg-end Nigel Carson saw the Menanians romp to victory against a distinctly average Smalltown FC.
Once again the axe was out with Hawkes + Brooksby removed from team affairs for some poor finishing against title rivals Tidy FC last week. They were replaced with Carson, Ward and another debutant Simon Smith.

It didnt take long for our first debutant Smith to make an impact after a mindblowing burst of pace down the left and a left footed tester finding his range on the Smalltown net in the early knockings. Patterson was in an unusual role of centre half due to some tiredness after completing 90 minutes for his Sunday team but he must be commended on his commitment to the Menanian cause putting his body through the pain like a contestant up a gladiators travelator!
Smith then collected another Patterson raking ball down the left, used his David Ngog like quick feet to get the ball on his favoured right peg and smashed the ball past the keeper to ease his earlier pre-match nerves. A great goal any Menanian would of been proud of.
Then the moment the 6 man strong crowd had been waiting for, the appearance of Carson himself. As he pulled his orange jersey over his gym enhanced body the buzz and excitement gripped him like a fat kid getting the last doughnut in Cooplands! On he came wearing the trusty number 9 shirt vacated by the banned and disgraced Dobson.
The first Smalltown chance came minutes before the end of the first half as Patterson overdid some of his galactico style composure and found himself robbed and chasing down the giant like hitman only for Bambi to pull off his first save of the match.
Ward + Willan were lucky not to receive a card for proffesional fouls with Smalltown strikers racing through on goal.
Half time Menan 1 v 0 Smalltown
The second half saw the Menanian boys go goal nap with the nights hero Carson picking the ball up 20 yards from goal, beating several defenders before rifleing a left footed drive past the keeper and showing the younger heads how it was done back in his day (When everything was black and white and Dinosaurs ruled the world).
Patterson was next to get in on the act after a Fabregas slide rule style through ball by Plumpton released him and a cool calm composed finish in the corner of the net was the finished result.
Smalltown registered themselves with Ward playing Santa Claus giving a gift of a pass straight to the big front man and after one touch he hammered the strike into Bambis far corner giving his lads hope. That hope did not last long as Carson rallied the troops with yells and cries of foreign smoggy talk that only his foreign counterpart Bambi could deceipher, the lads took it Carson meant business by his increasingly puffed out red cheeks and quickly knuckled down playing some sexy football in the process.
Plumpton did what many fans thought they would never see, no not refuse an aftermeal desert.... he scored his 10th of the season after a Carson set up. Plumpton was taking to the role as team goalscorer with hotshots Dobson and Horncastle still off the scene, it was becoming a bigger burden than Frodo with the ring on his hobbit like shoulders. Plumpton never looked phased as his left footed strike found the net. More goals could of followed for Plumpton as the Smalltown back 4 tired, he saw two guilt edged chances fly literally miles wide with team mates wanting to smash his lights out in better positions!
The attacks were coming like waves on the north bay as Carson strode forward like a slightly overweight and ageing Lionnel Messi, only for him to fall on his arse and leave the Menanians deep in the Sh*t!!! 3v1 Smalltown came forward resulting in Bambi being left with 0.05% chance of success as the ball hit the net taking the score to 4-2.
Carson was quick to redeem himself after more dancing on ice style belly flops on the astro turf he finally regained his footing on an attack and thundered a right footed drive from distance, on an angle and with his eyes shut, with defenders infront, against the wind which ping-pinged smack bang wallop in off the post. A truly sensational goal and one the Menanian faithful appreciated with much applause and chants of "Carson for Englend"
Willan finally got himself in on the act after at least 8 strikes on goal finishing off a Ward pass with a left footed cannonball taking the nights total to 6 goals. Willan was again becoming increasingly frustrated as many players and fans alike are beginning to wonder if Willan has indeed lost "it". A once proud marksman has slowly declined to a hit and hope toe pegger.
The man of the match sponsors quite fittingly "Stella for real men" gave the man of the match keg to Carson for a masterclass in target man play, quite literally rolling back the years looking like a young bustling Daniel Amokachi.
