Bad times for menan

Inter Menan slumped to their third defeat of the season in potentially a crucial game in the qualification for the European stage. Menan are now down to 3rd place in the league ladder, by virtue of their superior goal difference, this is a position the Menanians board are sure to be right mad at!

Yet again the Menan big timers stayed away with international commitments for Boro town keeping them out of the limelight. The squad boasted last weeks hero Graysocks, Dobson and Gez Ward, as well as stalwarts Ross, Plumpton and Willan.

It all started well for Menan as they looked organised with Plumpton leading from the back, bossing his troops across the sandy plains of the Pindar Astro arena. Ross did however pull off a glorious save to repel an early Cayton move.

Menan were playing on the counter as the midfield pair of Graysocks and Ward struggled to support the strapping target man aka The Dobonator.

The football was neat and tidy, the action was fast and frenetic as Menan started to take a hold on the game and keeping the match soccer under their spell with some well worked moves. Chances however were few and far between!

Half Time – Menan Neil v Neil Cayton

Suddenly out of nowhere Menan started the second period like a horse drawn cart fleeing from a band of armed Afgan terrorists as Dobson opened the scoring like a young John Hartson in his Arsenal days. His goal scoring feat has not gone un-noticed as Boro Town bigwig Mitch Cook contacted Inter Menan over a possible Duel ownership over the players playing rights. These talks are currently ongoing with an insider close to Dobson saying “Dobson is really thrilled to be linked with such a big illustrious club like Town, it has always been his dream to pull on the famous red shirt and rub the clubs Castle crest across his nips”.

Menan were pushing for more as they began dominating the game and ball possession, as Plumpton won a tussle with a Boro Town player Perry, who was not scared to be on the pitch and possibly feel the wrath of his international gaffer Cook. Plumpton fed Graysocks down the right channel and he in turn unleashed a “worldy” of a ball to Ward who did what he does best; - finished like a dream!

The scores favoured the tangerines as they now led 2 zip but there was a tense atmosphere gripping the arena as the Menanians nerves began to take over and Cayton crept in to the game like a sneaky Steve Hurrell trying to get a swift half of best before last orders in the Pickwick.

BANG, in flew the first goal for Cayton – Menan were rocking! “How longs left ref” cried Willan…. “5 minutes” replied top official and real life walking dead guy Bill Jones.

BOOOOOM, in flew number two as some slack tracking back let in Cayton for their second of the game.

Literally minutes to go when CRASH!!!!!! In flew the third, a staggering scorching thunderous drive from fully 19.6 yards that Tony Ross could only watch as it nestled in his threaded squared net.

The Menanians couldn’t believe it; they had thrown away a lead which looked so much in their control! The squad is on its knees with Dorey + Stevens out for a long while, Gez Ward only available every other week and of course the real heroes of the side Greendog, Patterson and Hawkes all sidelined indefinitely. How can they compete, how can they even put out 6 players in the coming weeks, they need a hero…… this hero will be revealed in next weeks epic clash vs Westover FC……Finally MENAN have snared their man!!!!!!

A panel of celebrities including Kris Akubusi, Michael Fish and David Pleat couldn’t pick a winner after watching the game as guests of honour. The guys were there to celebrate the return of Graysocks after last weeks trip to Poland in which Graysocks was said to have “had a good time” by a close friend. Graysocks did however come back with a smile on his face, oh and a new wife Mortisha Vladlinski-Graysocks who is said to love him long time……
