At this stage it looked like one way traffic with every prospect of a high scoring game. To Oxshotts credit, they rallied and showed good character in responding in a positive way by competing well in midfield, albeit without forcing a save out of Dave Driscoll in the first half. At times Leatherhead over elaborated their build up play rather than being more direct or passing quicker, giving the home side time to defend and break up play.<br style="color: #333333; font-family: 'lucida grande', tahoma, verdana, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 17px;" /><br style="color: #333333; font-family: 'lucida grande', tahoma, verdana, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 17px;" />After the break, and against the run of play Leatherhead conceded a soft penalty to a Ollie Fenwick handball, and on 53 minutes the spot kick was converted by ex AFC Wimbledon leading goalscorer Kevin Cooper. This encouraged Leatherhead to re focus their attention reintroducing a more disciplined approach to their play, and on 57 minutes Steve Fitzgerald fired in a 25 yard free kick, with the suspect Oxshott goalkeeper left floundering.
