<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: left; margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;">Surrey Intermediate Cup 2nd Round <p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: left; margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;">&nbsp; <p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: left; margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;">WOODCOTE ROVERS&nbsp;&nbsp; 0&nbsp;&nbsp; LEATHERHEAD&nbsp;&nbsp; 2 <p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: left; margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;">H-T: 0-1 <p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: left; margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;">&nbsp; <p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: left; margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;">Leatherhead missing a few regulars, &nbsp;produced one of their best performances of an already successful season with a hard fought victory over Woodcote Rovers on a heavy pitch at Farleigh Rovers Warlingham ground. <p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: left; margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;">&nbsp; <p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: left; margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;" align="center">Leatherhead began brightly, competing well in midfield and gradullay dominating play with a revamped 4-4-2 formation, based upon retaining possession and looking to release Ed Savitt on the left side with the energetic Nick Leyland covering every blade of grass to create openings for Steve John. Leyland came close on 10 minutes heading narrowly wide from a Savitt cross. Matt Sime and Ollie Fenwick returning from 6 weeks injured formed a solid central defence which resisted the home sides long ball game. A series of Woodcote corners were well dealt with by Man of the Match Joe Peak in the Leatherhead goal and generally good man marking. It was Leyland who opened the scoring with a well taken goal on 32 minutes following a good move than involved Tom Ashdown and Nick Bennett, combining quick inter passing with decoy runs. <p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: left; margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;" align="center">&nbsp; <p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: left; margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;" align="center">As the first half wore on so Leatherhead began to dominate possession and Bennett was adjudged offside when a second important goal was there for the taking. <p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: left; margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;" align="center">&nbsp; <p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: left; margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;" align="center">In the second half Leatherhead played the better football. Will Ashdown, anchoring midfield was winning plenty of second ball, and ensuring a good platform was retained in front of the defense, with James Eyres and Joe Findlay becoming more effective in wide positions and a faultless performance by Joe Peak giving the side extra confidence.
