<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;">LDSFL Div One <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;">&nbsp; <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;">CENTRALS&nbsp; 0 <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;">LEATHERHEAD&nbsp; 0 <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;">&nbsp; <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;">League leaders Leatherhead returned to league action on Sunday after a five week break, where they met bottom of the table Central FC on a very boggy pitch that prevented and subtle football. Leatherhead adapted well, and were the better side but were unable to convert any of the numerous chances they created, into goals, and rued a 70th minute missed penalty by Ed Savitt. <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;">&nbsp; <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;">Dave Driscoll made his first league appearance of the season, following shoulder surgery, and immediately gave a confident assured performance in goal for the visitors, ably supported by excellent defensive performances from Peak, Fitzgerald, Sime and Fenwick who were completely dominant in the air. <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;">&nbsp; <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;">Leatherhead created early problems for the Centrals defence with Bennett and Coppin providing good pace, and attempting to make the best of the numerous long diagonal balls that probed the angles. A series of well taken corners also posed problems and Leatherheads dominance of possession could not be converted to goals. Centrals created one good goal scoring chance after Elliot Thompson beat two players on the right before crossing, and Fitzgerald blocked the shot on the goal line. <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;">&nbsp; <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;">In the second half it was one way traffic with Leatherhead being regulary caught offside. Savitt and Bennett had good chances, before a penalty was awarded. The Centrals keeper saved the shot and Bennett scored from the follow up, only to be harshly adjudged to have entered the penalty area before the kick was taken, and the goal was disallowed.
