Away league match played on 11 October 2009.
Kicked off at 10:30 AM

The Result says it all really, we turned up today wanting the win and wanting a good win and we got what we wanted ! It could have been different though as we almost went 1 down in the first 30 seconds, a good save from Brett stopped us from going behind again !

I'll try and recall all the details but with 6 goals its difficult to remember everything... we started with a 4-4-2 this week and there was a first league start for Jamie k, this meant Goldy could fill in at centre mid and beany and wayne could occupy both flanks. we settled in soon after the scare and we went ahead early on when beany ghosted down the left and crossed the ball in for Jeffers to head home.

We continued to press ahead and score a second goal after an excellent solo effort from Jeffers to drive the ball in past their keeper!

The Third goal came from Goldy and I think it was off a throw in I cant be sure, but a well taken effort takes Goldy to 3 for the season and the joint 2nd Highest scorer for Penkhull Terrace.

The fourth came from the penalty spot, Beany again whipped the ball in only for the defender to outstretch an arm / shoulder, Jeffers stepped up to slot home the ball and his first hat trick and his tenth of the season, well on course for his 25 target !

Goal five was some excellent vision by Wayne and determination from Howell, Wayne Struck the ball from the Right back position and floated on Chris head to beat (and flatten) the keeper and head home our fifth !

The sixth goal was driven home by super sub jimmy Mcdaid for his second goal in as many games.

Morgan came close in the first half to adding to his tally but the ball crept wide of the post and we had a number of other opportunites to put this game into double figures.

All in in all theres nothing bad to say about this performance although they were very poor, we were also very good.

Going through the team Brett was solid in goal, didnt have much to do but when he did produced the stuff, Horton and dave rowley had a good game at right and Left back both looking more confident on the ball and more aggressive in winning it. Taff and Jamie K were faultless at the back, like a fortress i think they only got behind them once maybe twice in the entire game.

Across the midfield goldy and morgan were solid and hard working and completely ran their midfield into the ground. Wayne and Beany were effective down both flanks and caused them no end of trouble. And upfront Chris and Jeffcott combined well chasing down and winning countless encounters and scoring 4 of the 6 goals between them.

Man of the match went to Jamie K who was excellent and commanded from the back. To be honest it could have gone to a number of people today but i cant remember Jamie putting a foot wrong.

All 3 subs when they came on did an excellent job, Priesty with some wizardry down the right, jimmy providing energy upfront and scoring another goal and Hunty solid at the back.

We now have a bit of a run of going 6 points from 2 games and 10 goals in 2 games, we need to keep this going and hopefully when we know the fixtures on Tuesday we'll be able to make it 3 for 3.

Well Done every one !

Come on the Penkhull!
