Away league match played on 22 November 2009.
Kicked off at 10:30 AM

Amazing game today, top of the table clash on what looked like a warzone of a pitch and we showed why i think we are the best team in this league.

The conditions were awful and there was a case for it not to be played but i'm glad it was, we were all well up for it and we had a full squad with an excellent bench. There were a couple of changes this week, Morgan was back from Injury and Paul Williams started in his preffered role of centre forward. It was a tricky start both teams were trying to show dominance and real chances were few and far between, I think they were the better team in the first 15 minutes or so but as we got settled we pushed them back which forced them into the long ball which suited our back 4 fine. We had a few close chances in the first half from Jeffers and Williams but at half time it was 0-0 and at this point the pitch was a disgrace!

As we started the second half we immediately took control and we got the breakthrough we deserved when jeffers crossed the ball in from the right deep into the 6 yard box and Beany rose like a Salmon to head home his 3rd in 2 games!

Polonia seemed to drop a little after this and changed to 3 upfront, this didnt phase the guys at the back who deal with it admirably. As we continued to press we brought on melv and he had immediate effect as he held the ball up from the throw in, passed it back to Beany to whip in an outswinging cross for paul Williams to head in Penkhulls Second of the game. We were put under pressure as the game went on and Andy Pik did some excellent saves. But we had the chance to go 3 or 4 up if not for Melv just shooting wide of the post. Daz Fearns was bought on to replace Andy Beardmore and did some excellent work down the right and almost scored himself, and Chris Howell came on 10 mins from the end to replace Paul.

Everyone was excellent today, giving 100% all game.

Andy Pik - Awesome in goal today 2nd Clean sheet of the season, excellent awareness got out to meet the ball brilliantly.

Scott Horton - Getting better and better game of the season for him so far (contender for man of the Match)

Kris Hunt - Game of the season for him today too ! Didnt miss a trick against a strong forward line.

Jay K - Commanded at the back, was a huge voice probably best game again and a deserved Man of the Match

Wayne Pik - Solid as usual at the back wasnt as busy as Horton they didnt use their right mid much but faultless none the less.

Andy Beardmore - Made Some good runs in the first half but the service wasnt good enough into him, more the pitches fault than anything.

Scott Morgan - Tough game today in the middle of that park where the pitch was the worse, couldnt get the ball down and play like he enjoys doing due to awful pitch but never gave up, had an excellent run in the first half.

Simon Gold - Workhorse in midfield but difficult again with the state of the pitch, most of our good work came through him, excellent in the air. Did pick up 2nd yellow card of the season.

Beany - First half found it difficult with the state of the pitch, but made a great run to score the first and whipped in an excellent cross to set up the second.

Jeffers - Worked his bollocks off all game, unlucky not to score today but did cross in a lovely ball for the first goal.

Williams - Again worked his ass off was always winning the balls and tracking back to help out. Got himself a great goal to go 2-0 up.

Subs

Melv - Was strong and inventive today should have had 2 goals and i'm sure he'll be kicking himself about them

Daz Fearns - Great performance again really put in 100% chased down everything and was inches from connecting with a cross.

C Howell - Came on at the end was strong against their defence and held the ball up well.

Next week cup game loads of changes to give everyone a run. See you all at training.
