DBS Golden boot winner Gary Barnfather staked his claim to retain his trophy as he bagged an impresssive 5 goal haul today making it 21 for the season and putting him one goal ahead of strike partner danny makin. The first goal of the day did not come from gary, it was centre half Karl 'ANGRY' Adams who rose like a salmon to head home from a Adam'BEEFY'Heath throw in. Despite numerous chances for Thorney including a 3 yard open goal miss from Barnfather, a new look Music Rooms got an equaliser, a neat finish in the bottom corner from 12 yards. The goal got Thorney focused on the job in hand and they were soon back in front, after excellent play down the flanks from wing wizard james'WURZ' shickle Barnfather slotted home from 8 yards, moments later Thorney made it 3 when the original Ginger Cafu, Gary Butts pinged a 30 yard pass into Barnfathers feet, The big man ghosted past the centre back and cooly finished in the bottom corner. HALF TIME.
The second period started the same way the first ended, with Thorney in total control James 'WURZ' Shickle was causing havoc down the right wing and after good play he set young striker Danny 'HAIR' Makin away and after his initial shot was saved by the keeper he netted the rebound. Minutes later Shickle was soon in on the act and it was makin who replied the favour playing in WURZ who netted in the bottom corner from 12 yards out. There was no stopping Thorney at this stage and it looked like they could score at will, Danny 'HAIR'Makin was played in by Micky'WOO'Woodward and the Striker claimed a brilliant assist as he squared the ball back to Gary'DINGLE'Barnfather who placed the ball in the top corner with his left foot from 5 yards. Thorney who were in total domination at this stage got careless at the back and Music rooms hit them on the break, a right wing cross was kneed in at the back stick from the on rushing forward, Thorney soon got back in the swing of things and it was that man Barnfather again, after great work on the left side from full back George'burnt out lada nostrils'Lavelle Barnfather curled home an unstopable 20 yarder. Gary should have had his 5th goal minutes later when after a mazey run from Shickle, he was played through on goal after rounding the keeper and about to pull the trigger he was hauled down in the box, The Ginger Cafu smelt a goal and raced down the bank thinking he was Lee Dixon, but Barnfather decided he was the man for the job as regular penalty taker Karl'ANGRY'Adams had gone of with heartburn.Gary hit it to the keepers right and he pulled of a magnificent save and sent the ball over the bar. CAFU was not impressed, Barnfather did get his 5th goal, and it was Micky'WOO'Woodward who delivered the goods down the right, his cross was hung up at the back post and Barnfather volleyed home, With 15 minutes still on the clock Thorney made a sack full of chances unfortunately most of them fell to the Ginger CAFU, What does this boy have to do to find the onion bag ? Overall a good team performance from the lads.
