Vintage Thorney!!!

Thorney travelled to the seaside in bouyant mood after last weeks 6-0 win and had another decent squad out with supporter and legend Lee "NEZZA" Nesbitt making up the third sub spot. Thorney were missin Page, Lavender, Young, Burrell from last weeks startin 11 and also R Brooke, Woodward, Noble, Makin, Bewick & Peverley. In came Swindle and Liam Dunn at the heart of the defence, veteran coach Adam "Beefy" Heath was drafted in at Full back with Micky Nicholson, Brett Gillatt & Kyle Gibson back into the startin 11. Thorney started brightly and shud have been ahead within the openin 10mins but Spence somehow managed to hit the post from a yrd out. Whitburn were holding there own and should have went ahead when Kyle Gray was thru 1-on-1 but Jackson made an awesome stop. Thorney went 1-0 up on the half hour mark when Gibson beat his full back and crossed for Swindle to nod home to score his 1st for Thorney in his 2nd spell at the club. Thorney were dominant but struggled to break down Whitburns doggered back 4 and it needed some brillant 1 touch barca football to grab the 2nd on the stroke ov half time. Gillatt and Place down the flank were unplayable and Place crossed for Kris "Johna" Johnson to grab his 1st for Thorney in almost 2 yrs with a crisp volley from close range. Paul Brooke and Gaige Lisle replaced Heath & Gibson And Thorney went all out attack with 5 forwards in the team and you couldnt predict the outcome with 8 more goals comin in the last 25mins as Whitburn just couldnt cope with Thorneys attacking flair. A Brooke free-kick was volleyed home by Andy Place on 65mins, 30 secs later it was 4-0 after a delightful lobbed pass from Nicholson found MOTM Spence in the channel who crossed for Place to volley home. Thorney got it straight back from kick off and Spence beat 2 defenders and crossed for Lisle to bag a simple finish. Whitburn got one back a minute later, which they deserved as there heads never dropped with a brillant lob from MOTM Kyle Gray after Thorneys back 4 went walk abouts. The goal of the game came straight from the restart when Paul Brooke took the kick off and lobbed the keeper from the half-way line to make it 6-1! 75mins and Brooke crossed for Lisle to nod in at the back stick for his 2nd ov the game. Lee "NEZZA" Nesbitt was sent on to play in the hole and pull the string and nearly scored but his air shot fell straight to the keeper. It was 8-1 on 80mins when Gillatt drove to the byline and crossed for Andy Place to grab a derserved Hat-trick. Kyle Gray and Andrew SMith produced a stunning double save From Jackson in the Thorney goal which had abit of Monty about it. Dale Spence volleyed home a derserved 9th after great work from Matty Frost and Paul Brooke rounded off in style on 90mins when he lobbed the keeper AGAIN from 40yrd into the top corner for a quite sublime finish 10-1. Great Performance boys!! Good luck to Whitburn for the remainder of the season, just keep ya heads up.
