Away league match played on 13 December 2008.
Kicked off at 12:00 AM

Todays Game was played at a very cold and very wet Eye with all the boys doing well to show up and be willing to play, The pitch was also very wet and sticky which meant that the game we like to play was going to go out of the window and we would just have to slog it out and play for a result.

Both teams struggled in the conditions to start with but the Sax lads soon started to get on top putting the Eye goal under pressure and Rossi got his 1st of the game early in the half to open the scoring. The 2 subs on the sidelines were put into action and the lads were swapped at regular intervals as it was very cold on the touchline and it was important to try and keep the lads warm. After another attack the ball came to Tom in the area and he done well to make himself some space and put the ball in the net to make it 2 v 0. George was the next to get himself on the score sheet with a good finish to make it 3, we were making constant changes and lots of the lads were playing out of their normal positions but were working hard to get the win and the points. It Wasn't long before Rossi scored the goal of the game with a wonderful lob that left the keeper flat footed 4 v 0. Connor and george added 2 more in the next 3 minutes and then Jack M playing on the left of midfield made a superb run with a great shot that came of the bar and Rossi was there to tap it in to make it 7, the ref blew for half time and the lads were keen to get going again as it was so cold.

2nd Half

Jack S was so cold that his legs had gone purple and he asked to come out of goal Kyle stepped forward to take the gloves and Jack was given the chance to have a run. George completed his hat trick after 10 mins and the lads were all suffering with the cold, connor asked to come off and he went with Ed to sit in the car as he did not want to go back on and he is going to get his Nan to Knit him some warm gloves. It wasn't long before Jake came over and asked to come off as his hands were cold aswell John reluctantly went back on and Jake asked if he could leave as he was too cold to go back on that left us with no subs but fortunately not long left to play. Rossi made a break down the right and played in a cross/shot that went over the Keeper and on to Jacks head to score on his first trip outfield this year that made it 9 v 0 and the game was over a few minutes later as the ref blew the whistle much to everyones relief.

The Eye players, Parents and Managers deserve alot of praise to keep going on a horrible day and to be a very friendly place to go. I hope that we don't have too many cold days like today as it was close to being unplayable.

Well done to the boys for playing today and they all got 10 out of 10 as I think they deserve it for just being there, thanks to the parents who stood and watched the whole game aswell as I know it was cold on my side and I don't think it was any warmer on your side.

The Eye manager gave us Maximum fair play points and was very complimentary about the way the boys played and behaved so well done for that. 1 more game before Christmas and it gives us a chance to get the top spot back which I know we would all like to get, See you on Thursday for training.
