Home league match played on 10 April 2010.
Kicked off at 12:00 AM

A nice morning weather wise at |Carlton Park with the pitch in great condition even if the lines were a little bit wobblier than normal, Harry and Jack must ave had their eyes shut or talking rubbish as usual.

Ipswich Athletic were the visitors today and we expected a tough game as we always do against a well organised and big team.

Sax had several opportunities to open the scoring in the 1st half with some great balls coming in from the right from the ever dependable Tom unfortunately nobody could get on to the end of them and finish the move off. The lads were looking solid playing the new system with the 3 lads playing at the back being well backed up by the midfield and Jack was doing his usual stuff by sweeping up anything that did come through.

The Athletic keeper made 1 good save late in the 1st half when Ed's shot looked goal bound but the half finished all square.

Sax 0-0 Ipswich

The 2nd half started with Athletic looking like the better team and the lads were going to have to dig in and fight if they didn't want to lose this one, slowly but surely the lads did get back into it and started creating chances again Rossi had 1 that skimmed the bar and Ed had 1 that went only just wide after John had taken a quick free kick. The athletic players chucked everything in the way of a goal mouth scramble when at least 3 of the boys got shots away the last being a stinger from Kris.

Today's game was about both teams defending well and desperate not too lose it some games that end 0-0 are boring to watch but this was not the case with this game the lads all tried hard and credit to the Athletic players for holding out and playing the game in a good spirit and not complaining about challenges like some other teams do.

Although we are always a little disappointed not to win a game we have to remember that we can't win every week and we have to look at the positives in each game. Today we created a lot of chances and on another day some of those will go in, we kept a clean sheet against a good side and defended well despite it being the 1st game of playing 3-5-2, and we played the game in the right spirit without arguing and throwing in silly challenges that upset refs.

Overall not a bad game and the lads done well, Thanks to Jack and Harry for doing the pitch on Friday and to all that helped with the nets etc. And well done to the girls for selling all the bacon rolls even though they didn't save me one
