Reeve had a great game went in goals the first half and made two brilliant saves that would of been certain goals, played at right back and center back the second half and excelled in the right back position with his ability to strike a ball so cleanly switch the side of play on more than one occasion and some very important plays. He was shouting at his defenders on corners which is great to see.
Levi played out of position at the back today as much as he wanted to go forward he was holding his line well, When he did go forward it wasn't just pointless running he was chasing the ball down and breaking play up before it even got to the defence which was a huge plus, made some great clearances and some big big tackles which was very important
Alex played a lot deeper than normal today and did well best I've seen him in a long time with holding his role and his clearances were clean. Again like Levi made some big important challenges
Logan played a completely different role too last week dropping in as a wing back with the idea of being more defensive to allow the long ball to be played and soak up the second ball. When one of our center backs was out of place he used his own initiative to drop in and cover for either one of them. Had some great runs down the line aswell which we have come to see every week from him, a very good intelligent game.
Taaj made some very important tackles down the line and again was asked to play with a more defensive mind which can be very hard to grasp, Taaj had started to click with it and was making some nice blocks and passes going forward breaking the play in the wing areas where we thought the ball would be played.
Luke had some great passes in the middle and made some strong tackles trying to find that link up play with the striker and it may be coming but again like everyone today put in a real shift and worked hard just didn't sit up right for him to whip his shot a few times. Corners were good and causing all sorts of issues again
Arthur again played out of his normal position today had some brilliant hold up play and won everything he went for some brilliant turns even if it does scare me on the edge of the box but he does it so well each and every time this was a different style of play and Arthur took it on very quickly another great performance
Henley made some fantastic runs today and was working hard in the middle this role suited him to a tee as it let him be involved in the game with ease and still get forward, got on the end of the cross to get the ball over the line which is starting to become a trend man of the match for how quick he learned the role and what we wanted from him
Ty as important as goals are for the team he showed how important it is to have a goalkeeper you can rely on. I've never seen a kid this age save a ball when a shot with so much power accuracy is hit towards them. That save to the left hand side was absolutely unreal at any age group or Adult football not only did he save it he got his wrist behind it and pushed it as well.
Jacob had some good running in and behind the defence got the assist after a corner scramble and some great twists and turns and was starting to link with the man behind. Rattled the post from far out but again another great performance.
That was the most satisfying win I think we have had for us as coaches, We knew we had to play differently to the last time where we got rolled over way to easy.
The biggest thing we could do was go defensive and let them play out from the back and wipe that space out that they found against us so well the last time and we did this brilliantly we had to be a unit at the back and break the play and take our chances as we knew we would create space by being so much tighter at the back if one player wasn't working then it most likely wouldn't of worked so successfully.
Each and every kid should be proud today as these absolutely pulled us apart the last time we played. As we keep playing games we will know how others play and be able to counter it I think with most sides and try and figure out the best options before the game starts.
Also one major factor in the way we play is the grass when we get a 3G game we massively see a difference in the style of play so much more assured today on the grass.
Well done to all the kids today they were superb.
