Tiki Taka Dortmund travelled to Hindley Town FC for their first league game of the season against Hindley Town Warriors. The match lasted 70 minutes plus injury time, with Dortmund running out convincing 5-1 winners.
Deploying a classic 4-3-3 formation, Tiki Taka Dortmund set up with Kamsy Anajemba in goal, protected by a back four of Brajan Staszkowicz at right back, Kai McCaughtrie and Lawrence Nwakamma as central defenders, and Oscar Manders at left back. The midfield trio consisted of Amr on the right, Zac Leach centrally, and Zac Humphries-Deveney on the left, tasked with linking defence and attack. Up front, the three forwards were Sonic Leung on the right wing, Noah Rule leading the line as striker, and Yasin Mohammed on the left wing. The substitutes available were Nathen Platt, Ayo, Favour, and Andrew-Franz Nkemka.
The match began with Tiki Taka Dortmund asserting early pressure. Amr’s first attempt in the 2nd minute went just wide after some good play down the right side. Dortmund followed with another chance shortly after with a high effort from Yasin Mohammed in the 5th minute. Zac Leach also tested the opposition’s keeper with a long range shot that went wide of the post in the 12th minute. Amr found himself in space again in the box and got a shot off but the opposition goalkeeper made a good save, a lot of early chances in the game signalling Dortmund’s attacking intent.
The breakthrough came in the 16th minute when Yasin Mohammed made a good run down the left and delivered a precise cross into the box, allowing Sonic Leung to slot home with his right foot. Dortmund’s goalkeeper Kamsy Anajemba was immediately called into action, producing a full stretch save in the 17th minute to keep the lead intact. Five minutes later, Brajan Staszkowicz’s long pass found Sonic Leung again, who doubled the lead with a close-range finish inside the box.
Kamsy was called on again with another full stretch save in the 23rd minute, denying the Warriors a chance to respond. Shortly after, Dortmund made a flurry of substitutions at the 24th minute mark, bringing on Nathen Platt for Oscar Manders, Ayo for Amr, Favour for Noah Rule, and Andrew-Franz Nkemka for Yasin Mohammed, signalling a tactical refresh. Andrew-Franz Nkemka was then introduced again at the 30th minute, replacing Kai McCaughtrie in central defence.
Favour’s attempt in the 33rd minute went wide as Dortmund maintained control. The first half concluded at the 35th minute mark with Dortmund comfortably ahead 2-0. Early in the second half, Yasin Mohammed, back on the pitch, fired wide in the 39th minute. The visitors extended their advantage in the 43rd minute when Yasin provided a short pass assist for Zac Humphries-Deveney, who calmly finished with his right foot from close range inside the box.
Hindley Town Warriors pulled one back immediately after the restart in the 46th minute, injecting some hope into the home side. However, Dortmund responded swiftly as Sonic Leung completed his hat-trick in the 49th minute, capitalising on a goalmouth scramble with a right-footed finish from close range.
The substitutions continued with Noah Rule returning for Favour in the 52nd minute, followed by Brajan Staszkowicz replacing Nathen Platt and Amr coming back on for Zac Leach at the 53rd minute. Oscar Manders also returned to the left back position, replacing Sonic Leung at the 54th minute.
Dortmund’s dominance was further emphasised in the 64th minute when Zac Leach scored from just inside the box, assisted once again by Yasin Mohammed’s short pass. The final substitutions saw Sonic Leung return for Zac Humphries-Deveney, Favour replacing Lawrence Nwakamma, and Nathen Platt coming on for Yasin Mohammed, all around the 65th minute mark.
Sonic Leung’s outstanding performance, highlighted by his hat-trick and constant threat on the right wing, earned him the player of the match accolade. Tiki Taka Dortmund’s fluid 4-3-3 system, combined with clinical finishing and solid defensive work, secured a comprehensive 5-1 victory over Hindley Town Warriors.
