On the morning of 9 May 2026, Tiki Taka Dortmund welcomed title rivals Pennington Lions to St James’s High School for a league home match kicking off at 10:30am. The hosts delivered a stunning display of attacking football, overwhelming their opponents with a resounding 9-0 victory in a 70-minute contest under referee Mason’s watchful eye.
Tiki Taka Dortmund lined up in a classic 4-3-3 formation, deploying Kamsy Anajemba in goal. The defensive line featured Nikita Velicka at right back, Archie Hunt and Lawrence Nwakamma as central defenders, and Nathen Platt on the left. The midfield trio consisted of Mustafa Farag on the right, Zac Leach centrally, and Yasin Mohammed on the left. Up front, the attacking trio was made up of Brajan Staszkowicz on the right wing, Favour Ajumobi leading as striker, and Alex Maoneo on the left wing. This setup promised width and creativity from the flanks, midfield control, and a focal point in attack. The substitutes named were Zac Humphries-Deveney, Ayo Bamgboye, Oscar Manders, and Finley Barlow.
From the first whistle, Tiki Taka Dortmund asserted their dominance. Lawrence Nwakamma made an early defensive tackle in the opening minute to snuff out any threat. Immediately after, goalkeeper Kamsy Anajemba was alert to dive at the feet of an early Pennington Lions attempt in the second minute, setting the tone for a disciplined defensive display.
Nikita Velicka continued the defensive solidity with a crucial tackle in the sixth minute, while Brajan Staszkowicz began to influence the game offensively with a good run down the right and cross in the 8th minute that created a chance for Mustafa Farag who's shot was well saved, signalling Dortmund’s attacking intent.
The defensive work of Nathen Platt was notable in the 12th minute with a well-timed tackle, while attempts from Mustafa Farag and Yasin Mohammed in the following minutes went wide, showing Dortmund’s persistent pressure. Brajan Staszkowicz again provided a long key pass in the 18th minute, finding Yasin Mohammed in the box who played a nice short pass to Favour Ajumobi, who calmly finished with his right foot from close range to open the scoring.
Just two minutes later, Ajumobi doubled the lead with a tap-in from a cross by Staszkowicz, again using his right foot from close range. The visitors were struggling to contain Dortmund’s fluid attacking moves. At the 21st minute mark, Yasin Mohammed was replaced by Zac Humphries-Deveney, after picking up a slight knock.
Alex Maoneo had a couple of wide attempts in quick succession around the 22nd and 23rd minutes, while Staszkowicz continued to create chances down the right wing with another cross in to the box but Favour Ajumobi’s shot went wide at 25 minutes. The defensive resilience of Archie Hunt was crucial in the 26th and 28th minutes, where his tackles prevented further Lions’ advances.
Substitutions followed swiftly at the 30th minute, with Ayo Bamgboye and Oscar Manders coming on for Archie Hunt and Nikita Velicka respectively. Dortmund’s attacking momentum was relentless, and Ajumobi completed his hat-trick in the 31st minute, finishing inside the box from a cross by Staszkowicz.
Finley Barlow replaced Staszkowicz a minute later, and Zac Leach intercepted a threat in the 33rd minute, maintaining Dortmund’s defensive control. At 35 minutes, the half-time whistle went with Dortmund having a comfortable 3-0 lead. Changes at half-time saw Nikita Velicka returned to the field as Nathen Platt made way.
The second half began with an immediate goal from Ajumobi, his fourth of the game, capitalising on a long kick from goalkeeper Anajemba. Favour showed good strength inside the box to finish with his right foot in the 36th minute. Ayo Bamgboye showed defensive grit with a good tackle at 38 minutes, Dortmund made another change with Zac Leach substituted off for Yasin Mohammed at 40 minutes.
Alex Maoneo’s cross in the 42nd minute created another chance, though Ajumobi’s shot went wide. Velicka’s defensive tackle at 44 minutes kept the Lions at bay. The scoring continued in the second half with Mustafa Farag netting his first goal in the 49th minute, assisted by a cross from Finley Barlow.
Oscar Manders contributed defensively with a tackle at 52 minutes, while Farag’s attempt at 54 minutes went wide. At 55 minutes, a double substitution saw Archie Hunt and Brajan Staszkowicz return to the pitch, replacing Ajumobi and Maoneo respectively.
Bamgboye added to the tally after showing great acceleration, with a close-range goal in the 57th minute, again assisted by a long kick from goalkeeper Anajemba. Yasin Mohammed’s defensive tackle at 59 minutes and Bamgboye’s high attempt at 60 minutes showed Dortmund’s continued attacking and defensive balance.
Anajemba produced a great full-stretch save at 61 minutes to deny the Lions getting on the score sheet, but moments later, Yasin Mohammed was found unmarked in the box and expertly headed home a cross from Staszkowicz to extend the lead further. Bamgboye scored again at 65 minutes with a tap-in from close range with his right foot after a good cross by Mohammed, maintaining the relentless scoring spree.
Staszkowicz capped the scoring in the 67th minute with a good run down the left wing before cutting in and finishing with his right foot, assisted by a short pass from Humphries-Deveney. Shortly after, Humphries-Deveney was replaced by Zac Leach at 68 minutes. Farag’s shot in the late stages of the match was well saved in the 69th minute, but the damage was already done.
The full-time whistle went and Tiki Taka Dortmund’s comprehensive 9-0 victory was built on clinical finishing, creative passing, and solid defending. Favour Ajumobi’s four goals and Brajan Staszkowicz’s influential play on the wing earned them joint player of the match honours, highlighting their pivotal roles in this dominant performance. Also a special mention to the solid defending today by the lads at the back to keep a clean sheet against strong opposition.
Great team performance today and it was great to see the player's have the confidence to switch it up and play out from the back at times.
Well done lads ????
