U10s Whites Match Report ??
??? Date: Sunday 29th March
?? Opponents: Macclesfield Selects
?? Result: 2–7
?? Competition: Champions Cup Match
This was a tough game for the boys where, overall, we just weren’t quite at our usual level. Despite the result, the lads kept going throughout and showed great resilience and determination, which is really important and something to be proud of.
In Possession
When we had the ball, there were still some positive moments. The boys showed some nice patterns of play and managed to move the ball up the pitch well at times, getting into the opposition’s half and creating a few dangerous opportunities.
We worked the ball into good areas, but we found it difficult to get past their goalkeeper, who made some very good saves. With a little more intensity, quicker decision-making, and confidence on the ball, we could have created even more and potentially taken more from the game.
Even though it wasn’t our best day, it was good to see the boys still trying to play the right way and looking to build attacks as we’ve worked on in training.
Out of Possession
Without the ball, we found things more difficult. Macclesfield were a strong team who played good football and created lots of chances, which they finished well. At times, we were just a little off it in terms of staying close to our players and tracking their runs, which allowed them to break is down and create goal-scoring opportunities.
We know how important it is to stay tight, communicate, and work together defensively, and this is something we will continue to look at improving on.
? Player of the Match – Albie
Albie’s work rate throughout the game was outstanding. No matter how difficult things became, he never stopped working for the team. He showed great determination to win the ball back with some excellent challenges and always looked to move the ball forward and help us attack after regaining possession. His attitude and effort were brilliant from start to finish.
?? Goals: Sam, Raff
?? Assists: Sam, Raff
Me and Tom were really pleased with the boys’ resilience. Even when the game became difficult and wasn’t going our way, they continued to push, work hard, and support each other right until the end. That attitude is just as important as the result.
We’ll take the lessons from this game and keep working hard to improve.
Hope everyone has a lovely Easter and I’ll see you all next Tuesday.
Thanks,
Jayden and Tom ??
