?? Result: 1β1
?? Competition: League Match
This was a really positive performance from the boys this afternoon. Although we didnβt come away with the win, the effort, attitude, and quality shown throughout the game were excellent. The players worked hard for each other, followed the game plan well, and showed great teamwork and resilience from start to finish. Overall, it was a performance that everyone can be proud of.
In Possession
When we had the ball, the boys played exactly how we had planned and worked on in training. We looked to use the wide areas and play into the channels for our players to run onto, which helped us stretch the opposition and create space. This approach worked really well, and we created many good goal-scoring opportunities during the match.
We played some lovely football at times, with quick passing, good movement, and excellent combinations to get around defenders. Their goalkeeper made several top-quality saves, which stopped us from scoring more goals and kept them in the game. The boys showed great confidence on the ball and were brave in trying to play through and around the opposition.
Our passing and movement continue to improve week by week, which is a huge positive. This is something we have been working hard on in training, and it was brilliant to see it coming through so clearly in our match play. If we keep working on this, our attacking play will only get better.
Out of Possession
Without the ball, this was one of our strongest defensive performances of the season. The boys defended their goal really well and showed great discipline in keeping their shape. With our 1-2-1-2 formation, it is very important that we stay organised and protect the central areas, and the players did this perfectly.
The pressing and aggression were much improved compared to previous games. Everyone worked hard to close players down quickly, win the ball back, and help their teammates. This made it difficult for the opposition to settle into the game and showed how much the boys are developing defensively.
A special well done to Noah, who made some excellent saves at crucial moments and showed great bravery and focus, especially while dealing with the difficult weather conditions. His performance helped keep us in the game and gave the team confidence.
? Player of the Match β Jacob P
Jacob was outstanding today. He did everything that was asked of him, showed great understanding of his role, and carried out his responsibilities perfectly. His effort, attitude, and quality on the ball made a big difference to the teamβs performance.
?? Goal: Oscar
?? Assist: Sam
Me and Tom were really pleased with how the boys played today. They showed the quality we have in the squad and proved that when we work hard and play with confidence, we can compete with anyone. The next step is to keep improving our finishing and start taking more of the chances we create.
Well done to everyone for another strong team performance.
See you all at training on Tuesday.
Thanks,
Jayden and Tom ??
