U10s Whites Match Report ??

??? Date: Sunday 1st March

?? Opponents: Richmond Rovers All Stars

?? Result: 2–3

?? Competition: League Match

A fantastic performance from the lads today, and we were very unlucky not to come away with at least a point. The effort, quality, and teamwork on display were brilliant from start to finish. Even though the result didn’t quite go our way, the performance showed just how much the boys are improving each week.

In Possession

The boys were excellent on the ball today. We passed it around confidently and had some really impressive sequences of play where we built up patiently from the back. Playing out from defence looked much better this week, which is a huge positive — especially after focusing on it in training. It was great to see the hard work paying off in a match situation.

We created lots of strong attacking opportunities, often finding ourselves in overload situations such as 3v2s and 2v1s. With just a little more composure and quality in front of goal, we could easily have scored two or three more. However, credit must also go to their goalkeeper, who made several excellent saves to deny us. The important thing is that we are consistently creating chances through good football, and that is a big step forward for the team.

Out of Possession

Without the ball, the boys competed really well. At times we maybe could have been slightly stronger in a few challenges, but overall the aggression and determination were much improved. The team worked hard to win the ball back and showed great commitment when defending.

One of the biggest positives was how well the boys are starting to understand their shape. We looked much more organised and positionally aware compared to previous weeks. Against a strong side like Richmond, staying compact and disciplined is very important, and the boys did this well for large parts of the game.

Our pressing from their goal kicks was also excellent. The forwards worked hard to close down quickly, often forcing Richmond to play long or into crowded central areas where we were ready to win the ball back. This created several good opportunities for us in dangerous positions.

? Players of the Match – Noah & Raff

Raff was outstanding throughout the game. He gave us so much both in possession and out of possession. On the ball, he created some brilliant chances and had a few opportunities himself that he was unlucky not to score. His work rate was relentless, especially when pressing from the front. He caused multiple mistakes from the opposition and won the ball back in dangerous areas on several occasions.

Noah was excellent in goal and made countless important saves that kept us in the match. His standout moment was an incredible double save that showed great reactions and bravery. His performance gave the team confidence and helped us stay competitive right until the end.

?? Goals: Seth, Billy

?? Assists: Jacob P, Raff

Me and Tom were extremely proud of the performance and attitude shown today. Of course, we were disappointed not to get the result we felt the boys deserved, but there are so many positives to take from the game. If we continue performing like this, the results will come.

Well done, lads — keep working hard.

See you all at training on Tuesday.

Thanks,

Jayden and Tom ??
