Wallasey Junior League

The Wallasey Junior Football League is a youth football competition for clubs in Merseyside. Its published rules place the competition under the FA’s youth-football standard code and identify Merseyside as its membership area. The league is intended for junior teams rather than adult sides, with football organised through member clubs.

Football for young players

League guidance covers age groups from under-7 to under-16 and includes both boys’ and girls’ registration roles. It also sets out the small-sided and full-sided formats used by junior football: 5v5, 7v7, 9v9 and 11v11. That gives parents, coaches and volunteers a clear sense of the progression from mini soccer into the older youth game.

Matches are played on local league pitches, including The Delph, alongside venues used by member clubs. The league’s published material also includes separate cup competitions, so teams can take part in league and knockout football.
