Ascot Royals 1 vs 2 Binfield Lions U10

<p>After being close in mosty matches in the last 6/7 weeks the Lions recorded their 1st league win of this campaign! &nbsp; <p>The way they have been playing it is no more than they deserve as another season from the same level of perfomance we may have accrued 10 points in the same period we managed 4 - none of the players gave up believing in themselves and more importantly each other. <p>The Lions appeared up for this one as we set our with our now usual 3-2-1 formation which caused the Royals no end of problems along with a tail wind behind us, the ball was almost camped in their half for the first 15 minutes. &nbsp;TJ twice going close with well struck long range efforts that the keeper did well to save and gather in, OH was causing problems at the back with his quick fees and sheer desire to win the ball. &nbsp;It was no suprise when the scoring was opened from the edge of the box when OH who had just intercepted a Royals pass took aim and let fly with a rocket that i doubt the keeper even saw - although i cant be certain i was sure that he had more reason this week to score than any other week.....? &nbsp;Soon after he tried the same albeit from a tight angle and rattled the frame of the goal with the keeper beaten, another fine move involving 3/4 of the players resulted in a penalty kick and our designated taker stepped up and smashed the ball against the post! &nbsp;I think that we have missed our last 8 penalty kicks (not including shootouts), not to worry as the pressure was constant and surely a 2nd wasnt far away? <p>1-0 H/T <p>With the wind now against us the 2nd half was always going to be a different game, the Royals attacked at will and after some sloppy defending the left winger stole in unchallenged for a free run at goal and made no mistake, 1-1. &nbsp;It was disapointing in the manner in which we had conceded as we have knocked the mistakes from our game recently, in past games we may have gone on to struggle against a spirited team but the Lions carried on and really took the game to their hosts. &nbsp;Rory was getting more into the game and Tom &amp; Harry were starting to dictate play from the middle, Jack was immesnse at the back and Joe &amp; Ollie were always on hand to clear up any danger - between Harvey and OH they were working tirelessly to shut the ball down up front. &nbsp;After several counter attacks the Lions got their rewards when TJ weaved along the byline to square to Harvey a few yards out to rifle the ball into an unguarded net, 2-1. <p>This time you could tell that the team was not about to concede another soft goal as the whole team showed incredible committment to ensure the points remained ours, unfortunately the game was marred by a very unsavoury incident where a player of our was struck in the face by a Royals player but to the Lions credit and pushing apart they never did anything in retaliation that could have got us and ultimately themselves into trouble - it takes a bigger man (or boy) to walk away from something like that. <p>The whistle blew and the relief was evident for all to see, next week we host Sandhurst Reds in what is another must win for the Lions, its important to win matches but even more important to get back to back victories. &nbsp; <p>2-1 F/T <p>As its our last game before Christmas then i thought it might be oppertune for us to have a get-together? I had proposed watching the 1st team at home in the FA Vase and then going on to F&amp;B and then possibly bowling for players/parents/siblings and any that wish to attend - i will need an idea of number so i can book tables etc. <p>Team: Joe, Jack, Rory, Harvey, Ollie, Harry, TJ &amp; OH
